I stood in the gathering hall along with all the other sensei's. It was just like the day we were assigned our teams, but only this time we were looking up at the Hokage, not down at a glass ball.
"As you all know, seven days from now we are hosting the chunin selection exams."
A few murmurs rippled through the crowd, but only Kakashi spoke up. "Isn't that a little rushed?"
The Hokage rested his elbows on his desk and folded his hands. "Even so, other villages are already arriving. Asuma, Kurenai, Kakashi and (Y/N), are there any genin from your squads that you wish to recommend for these exams?"
Kakashi responded first. "Group seven, Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto Uzumaki and Sakura Haruno. I, Kakashi Hatake, recommend these three for the chunin exams."
Kurenai followed suite. "Hinata Hyuga, Kiba Inuzuka and Shino Aburame. I, Kurenai Yuhi, recommend the same."
"For these three, I, Asuma Sarutobi recommend the same. Ino Yamanaka, Choji Akimichi and Shikamaru Nara."
That left me. I placed my two fingers in front of my face and sucked in a long, deep breath. "I, (Y/N) (L/N), recommend team two. Amari Yamanaka, Jin Yamamoto and Kamina Ito."
I could feel that all eyes were on me as I finished.
"This is ridiculous," Iruka spoke up from his place next to the Hokage. "These sensei's have barely had time to work with their teams. They should be tested after gaining more experience in the field."
The four of us faced him, and Kakashi spoke on behalf of us all. "I became a chunin when I was six years younger than our students are now."
"Naruto isn't like you!" Iruka yelled.
"Iruka, they're not your students anymore," I explained gently.
"Exactly," Kakashi agreed. "Stay out of this."
"I understand both of your points," the Hokage said. "However, it is not Kakashi's team seven that concerns me."
His eyes flicked towards me. "(Y/N). Your team two has shown great skill and improvement, although they have a weakness that brings them down as a whole. Do you think that another year would be beneficial to their growth?"
My fists clenched at my sides. I knew everyone was watching me, and I knew everyone was doubting my team because of Kamina. Every time someone doubted him it felt like a direct insult to my skills as a sensei. I wouldn't have it.
"Everyone knows Kamina is blind. It's no secret. However, what everyone doesn't know is how skilled he is out in the field. He is number one when it comes to surprising his opponent and his stealth couldn't be matched by even the best of ninja. I stand by what I said. I recommend all three members of team two for the upcoming exams."
The Hokage took a long drag from his pipe, a pleased smiled on his face. "In that case I've come to a decision. There shall be a preliminary round held for these genin, and those who pass may move on to participate in the rest of the exams."
The Hokage dismissed us and I walked with Kurenai out of the building.
"I'm seriously so close to losing it. If one more person questions Kamina's ability I might just—"
