Arriving back at Asami’s Bolin rushed off to the bathroom, while Korra headed up stairs to a lady’s powder room.
What in the world is a powder room? Who has those?
I was left alone for a few minutes with Mako and Asami. We didn’t really talk about anything big. They knew who my aunt and uncle were, but that was just noise to fill the air. When Bolin joined us, he had the butler guy spray him down with some fancy smelling perfume. When Korrra came back she was rushing down the stairs, and past us.
“You’re leaving? But-but I thought”
“Yeah, well sorry, I forgot I’m supposed to air sit- I mean baby bend- I-I mean babysit the air bending kids. See ya later!”
She rushed out and every looked at each other, and then me. I could tell by Korra’s body language that something was wrong. So I went along with her plan.
“Oh yeah! I forgot we promised to help Pema out! You know, being pregnant and having three little ones can get tough, and sometimes you just need a break. So I have to go to. Thanks for having me over Asami. Bye Bolin, Mako!”
Spinning on my heels, I rushed out after Korra. I caught her at the street, calling out for her to stop.
“Korra! Kor-ra! KORRA WAIT FOR ME!”
Using my air-run I caught up with her, grabbing her arm. She stopped and looked at me with wild eyes.
“Korra, what’s up? Why did you leave out of Asami’s so fast? I thought you guys were getting along now. I mean, the-the-you, you looked as if you saw one of Amon’s minions.”
Though it was meant to be a light joke to change up the mood, her face told me something different. My small smile fell, and I grabbed her with my other arm. Holding her our eyes met.
“Korra, what happened at Asami’s?”
That night, Korra met with Tenzin and Chief Bei Fong. I stayed home, left to clean up my mess. In my fit of pain-filled anger, I destroyed my room, and got rid of almost every piece of clothing I owned. Pema, along with the Air Acolytes were kind enough to save, wash, and dry my clothes. They even fished out my shoes from the bay, though they did have a faint mud smell now. At some point I got my room semi back to normal, while Korra, Tenzin, and Chief Be Fong still worked to see if Asami’s dad was working with Amon or not.
Me, I say maybe. In this day and age, you can never trust anyone, not even rich people. Especially not rich people.
During the last search, I met up with the three of them once it was over. I flew down, as Asami and Mako walked away. Korra was petting Naga, and Tenzin and Chief Be Fong were talking. I dropped down lightly next to Korra, my flats not making a sound as I did.
“So?”
She sighed, not even taking her eyes off of Naga.
“Nothing.”
“Ugh! Korra, I believed you when you told me about the phone call, but are sure? I mean, so far he seems clean.”
“I know what I heard!”
“Okay, okay, maybe you’re right. But where is a man going to hide a factory of stuff? You’ve already searched his actual Factories! Where else could it be?”
Just as I said that Korra jumped, and looked around. I looked at her, and then the workers leaving. She looked down, and I noticed a note in her hand. She read it, and I skimmed it with my eyes. We both turned to face Bei Fong and Tenzin.
“I think you guys should hear this.”
They both stopped talking and looked at Korra.
“If you want to find the truth, meet me under the north end of the silk road bridge at midnight.”
