“Do you miss your family? Like, did I take you from your family or were you alone- like me?”
Leza said nothing, and I took that as a ‘if I did have a family I left them willingly and love being with you.’ Flipping on my back, my eyes grazed the sky as it soared above my body. I snugged under the thin blanket that I was wrapped in.
“How do you fly Leza-aah!”
With a gasp I sat up and turned to face the back of her head.
“Are you an air bender? But-wait, you’re an animal and animals don’t air bend… or do they?”
I was in the middle of pondering, when I noticed that we were coming up upon the Eastern Air Temple. Shoving my blanket into one of my bags, I jumped from Leza’s saddle to the back of her neck.
“Oh- Leza! There it is-look at it! Wow, it’s just so pretty…prettier than the last one… Wow.”
Leza let out a roar, and I returned it with a nice head rub.
We came in for a landing, and almost at once were greeted by four Acolytes. The looked from Leza, to me, sizing me up.
“Who are you, dear traveler, how did you get a flying bison, and what brings you to the Eastern Air Temple.”
“My name is Princess Zabri Fa of the Fire Nation, Master air bender. This is Leza, my bison, and I am here to finish my vacation with Tenzin and family.”
When the realization of who I was hitting them like a wall of earth, they were quick to bow and introduce themselves. The main man in front of the other three spoke.
“Master Zabri, welcome and please excuse our rude attitude. It is rare to see a bison with a stranger not known to us. Is there anything that we may do for you?”
“It’s okay, and yes. If one of you could attend to Leza, she’s fond of berries, and someone else take my bags to a room that I may stay in- I would like to see Tenzin.”
“Of course, at once.”
The first man rose, and clapped his hand together. At once, one Acolyte went to Leza, the other two went to her saddle, and begun to removed my bags as the main man held a hand out.
“If you would, please follow me. Master Tenzin and his family are in one of the courtyards.”
“Yes, thank you-wait!”
Turning I ran back to Leza and grabbed my bags of gifts. Opening it, I checked to make sure I had everything. On my trip out of the city I realized I had forgotten about the baby, cute little Rohan, and stopped in a town along the way to pick up a rattle for him. I’m not sure how I forgot about his cute little face, but I had. I was just grateful I remembered before I returned.
Jumping off of Leza, I held the gift bag to one of the Acolytes.
“Make sure this is placed on my bed. It has gifts for the children in it.”
The Acolyte nodded, and I moved to Leza’s face.
“You be good now, little girl, got it?”
She roared and the good bunch of spit that hit my face told me she wasn’t happy I was leaving her again.
“You’ll be fine here you spoiled rotten beast- so be good!”
~~~
“Here you are.”
“Thank you.”
The Acolyte led me just outside of one of the entrances to the courtyard. From within I could hear children’s voices and Bumi arguing with Kya… again. Taking a deep breath as I held back my joy, I walked in.
