Now
My heart pounded in my chest. From the moment I spotted the City as a small speck on the horizon, to now, as I flew over it. I looked down; surprised by how much it had changed in my time gone. It almost didn’t feel like the same City.
I was worried what Tenzin would say, how everyone would react. My departure from my life as I had known it had been quick and swift. I left no time to think on the actions I was preforming, but lived life as it was given to me. I had missed them all, in the time I was gone, but I needed to go out on my own. I needed to not live as Princess Zabri Fa, Master Air bender. I needed to have the sense of being a normal person with a normal life. In a sense, I was more like my mother more than I could have ever dreamed of being- nor later hoped to become. But unlike my mother, I was coming back.
My hands got clammy, and suddenly the bags so carefully balanced seemed like rocks, as I approached the island. I was taken back for a moment, as I descended upon the island. I had forgotten how beautiful it was, even more so with all the live that burst from it. It could bring a tear to the eye.
Licking my lips, I prepared myself to land, and ended on semi-shaky legs. Though, in the end, I was able to stand tall and graceful- just as I was taught. Removing my bag, I closed my glider, and secured it upon my hip. It was as I bent back up, my hands now holding a bag each, that I noticed a few people- who had been out doing their own business- had stopped and were staring at me. I gave a small smile, and slowly started off towards my room. As weaved my way through, no one else paid me any attention.
It hadn’t been too long that I had been gone. Had they all forgotten about me? Me- their teacher, their guidance, was I that easily forgettable? I wasn’t sure.
I walked through the halls slower, pushing and sliding by people- my narrow view set on just getting to my room. I rounded the last corner, my door within my view, when a voice calling my name stopped me in my tacks. Turning, I swallowed the lump in my throat.
“Tenzin.” My voice rose barely past a breath, the sight of the man who raised me for the first time in over a year shocking me with a wave of emotions.
“Zabri?” He repeated my name again, blinking as he looked at me- as if I was a ghost.
“Tenzin!” My hands released my bags and they fell to the ground with a thump. I rushed forward, smiling as I did. We met in a hug, one of the best hugs I could have ever received. “I missed you so much!”
“Zabri, what are you doing here?” We pulled away, and I brushed a few stray bangs from my eyes.
“I- well, um, I heard Korra was coming back into town in a few days and I thought I would come and, you know…” I casted my eyes down, letting the sentence fall “… I was… I am, ready to come back.”
“I’m just, surprised to see you. No one has heard anything of you in months!”
“I know! I know, I just, I-I-I needed to Tenzin. I just needed to.”
“Does-does Lord Zuko know you’re here?”
“No- no one does. I figured, with this whole Earth Prince stuff coming up that they would have to travel here and I could see them then.” I gave a small smile, to which Tenzin did not return.
“Are you ever going to tell me what fully happened?”
“No. Yes. Maybe, most likely not… Are you mad at me?”
He looked at me, not saying anything at first. “How could I possibly be mad at you? You did nothing… really… wrong.” My smile grew a little more, as I let out a sigh of relief.
“Thanks Tenzin.”
“You’re welcome, now if you hurry to get washed up I might convince Pema to have an extra plate made up for you.”
#WhatWillHappenInBook4
I know, this is short. This book around, as I've started to write it, I've decided to do something a little different then what has been done in the past three books. The Chapters are going to be shorter. BUT! BUT. Shorter chapters, means more updates more frequently- hopefully. It'll all make sense by the next chapter- I swear. Until then, keep reading! <3
*There is a photo, but my current website is down so I tried another. Hopefully it works until the other gets back up!*
