Republic City, once so small and divided; now sat as a harmonized City. As Aang and Zuko had always dreamed. Now it was being threaten. The women, looking down over the edge of her balcony, turned with a scoff. Her long hair flung around her shoulder. Not even the high, elaborate style keep the long, near thigh length, hair from flying. She walked a few steps, her heels not making a sound. She flung back the flowing layers of her dress as she sat on a rounded bench. She glanced to her left, closing her eyes. She listened. Everything was fine, and the sea was calm.
“I know what’s coming.”
She turned her head to the right, still at an angle with closed eyes. She didn’t need to open them to see who it was.
“And how are you so sure of what you know?”
She opened her eyes, and looked at the man she had known since his boyhood.
“It’s in the winds, the sky, the earth, the ocean- I feel it. Good things are not in store for the young Avatar and her friends.”
The man bent down to the woman, and gave a small smile.
“Yes, but you must get through tough times to get to the good ones. You, of any one, should know that my dear friend.”
The woman glanced away sighing.
“And yet here I sit, helpless to do anything. Heart breaking for the one I love.”
She turned back to the man, their eyes meeting.
“It’s been so long, since I’ve seen him. Since I’ve felt him, felt his flesh on my-”
She closed her eyes as she caressed her face with the back of her hands, wishing it was her lover. She then let them fall, and opened her eyes.
“You know my pain. Yet you had many more years than I.”
“But look at what has all been done. Is that not worth it?”
She shook her head, looking down, straight a head. Her eyes grew wide, in a fresh-bump raising manner.
“I’ve sat here, in this place for years, watching the world live on without me. They celebrate me, and I would give it all for just a few moments with the ones I love, that they know me as I know them.”
“You wish to dream hop.”
She turned her head back up to him, her eyes gleaming with a tender hope.
“Why not? Other spirits have done it many times, they gave aid when needed, why can’t I?”
“Are you asking-”
“Yes.”
She looked at him as she stood, and walked back over to the edge. She glanced to the city, her heart yearning to be there in the flesh.
“So this is why you called me.”
She glanced back, giving a small smile as her ice blue eyes glowed.
“Well, I can assure you it was not for afternoon tea. And if you chose to not help me, then I shall gain my own help.”
“You don’t mean-”
She looked at him, her eyes harding over, as he had seen them do so many times. She came up to him, his hight towering over her. They were both frozen in time.
“Yes. I shall call on the spirit guides. Either way I will not sit here and do nothing. It is not how I got here.”
