I rubbed Leza behind her ear- a favorite spot of hers I discovered. Behind her, Bumi sat with Oogi, playing a flute as on the deck below us Tenzin was watching over Korra as she fought a dummy. Literally, it was a stuffed fake person.
Looking down, I noticed Bolin with his hand on Mako’s shoulder- with Mako looking moodier than ever. Tenzin shouted sort of encouraging words to Korra and well… the poor dummy got hit’s head burnt off.
Shaking my head, I pushed myself up and onto Leza. Grabbing a hold of her reigns, I looked down to her.
“Let’s go a for a flight little girl- Yip-yip!”
Though I was more than worried about how we would get through to the South Pole, my mind was still swirling with Jinora, Maia, my grandmother, my home nation, my strange attacks and just everything. I wasn’t quite sure where my head- or heart- exactly was.
~~~
Upon landing, I joined everyone on deck, where Asami was delivering a pretty big blow to us. Korra’s dad was taken and Unalaq and his army injured the rest of the Southern resident army. So forgetting all basic plans, we headed out on Oogi and Leza towards the southern water tribe. With Jinora in Master Katara’s more than capable hands- we set out to planning once again.
“I talked to the rebels. They said Unalaq's got the southern portal surrounded. Harmonic Convergence is only a few hours away.”
“Then we have to break through the enemy lines ourselves and get to the portal now.”
“There's no use in talking any more. We know what our mission is.”
“We have to get Jinora and the south back, no matter what.”
“A suicide mission...”
We all paused, and looked to Bolin. He had no faith in us. Well, I was planning on showing him.
“You know, I was in a similar situation once. My platoon had crawled through the desert with no water for a week! But when we finally located the only oasis for a hundred miles,”
We all looked at Bumi, not sure if we could believe it or not.
“-it was surrounded by angry sandbenders. I realized our only chance to get to the water was to drop in from above. So I fashioned together a catapult, and with the help of a few well-trained hog monkeys-”
“Enough of your ridiculous lies! Can't you see that the fate of the world and Jinora's life depends on what we do here today?!”
“Tenzin-”
I was cut short, by Asami. Of all the people!
“Hold on, maybe Bumi's right. We don't have a catapult and hog monkeys, but we have two flying bisons and there's a plane on Varrick's ship. Maybe we can attack from above.”
“We do- I call the plane!”
“But you have Leza.”
“…True.”
“So, what are you thinking?”
“Mako, Bolin and I can use the plane to create a distraction, and scatter some of the defenses. You, Tenzin, Bumi and Kya can fly into the spirit portal on Oogi, while Zabri is on Leza, when you all see an opening.”
“I like it!”
“Let's get moving.”
~~~
And so we were off, separating from the plane, Leza was right behind Oogi. Dark spirits floated around like clouds. We couldn’t find a wide enough path inside. And even though the armies weren’t paying attention to us- the dark spirits were. Using my air bending I did my best to fight them off of Leza.
