“Who’s the sweetest little Bison ever? Is it you? Is it you? Is it-” Leza’s roar cut me off, and I shuttered back a few steps as I was pelted with saliva. I slowly wiped away the spit from my face, flinging it to the ground. “Clearly it’s not you.”
Tossing her, her last treat, I was making my way back towards the front of the tavern when I heard one of the best voices ever- even if the owner was moodier than me.
“Okay, all right, Naga. It's good to see you, too. Gah! Stop! You're licking my mouth.”
Sprinting into a run, I stopped short at the sight of Naga getting pushed off of Mako. Gasping, I rushed forward, and wrapped my arms around Bolin.
“Mako- Bolin- you’re okay!”
Realizing how tight I was holding Bolin, I released him just as Korra and Asami rushed out of the tavern. Mako hugged Korra and Bolin hugged Asami. I didn’t mind though, because I had gotten my hug already.
“It's really good to see you, too, both of you.”
“Good. You guys aren't dead.”
“Don't get all mushy on me, Chief.” Mako bowed the Lin, before turning to Tonraq. “Tonraq, sir.”
I watched Bolin slide over to my grandfather as he attempted to hold back his excitement.
“Oh my gosh, it's Lord Zuko! I can't believe it.”
“Uhm, forgive my brother. We're just really honored to meet you, sir.”
Smiling I wrapped an arm around one of my grandfather’s.
“Mako, Bolin, this is my grandfather, Lord Zuko. Grandfather, these are my friends Mako and Bolin.”
The brothers bowed and I released my grandfather so that he could return the favor.
“It's a pleasure to meet you as well. Mainly you, Bolin, the boy who broke my granddaughter’s heart.”
Bolin’s face dropped and I felt mine turn twenty shades redder.
“I-um-er-”
“Actually grandfather, I broke up with him and-and in the end it ended up being a mutual agreement and we’ve both moved on, so there is no need to bring it up.” Grabbing Bolin, I pulled him away a few feet from my grandfather’s hard stare. “So, Bolin who are all these people?”
“They’re my family- we found them when we were stuck in the lower ring.”
“Your family! Oh I’m so excited for you!”
Without thinking, I grabbed him for another tight squeeze. I held on for just a few seconds too long, so that we pulled away in a quick, awkward and unnatural movement. Rubbing my neck, I took a step back.
“So what happened after, everything?”
Before Bolin could answer, I heard Mako explaining it to Korra and Asami.
“We were captured by Zaheer and taken to Ba Sing Se. We were there when the Earth Queen was overthrown.”
“What? How did you escape?”
“We didn’t, Zaheer let us go.”
“What- why-” Korra and I looked at each other. We had spoken at the same time, saying the same thing. Nodding my head, Korra went on alone. “Why would he do that?”
“Because, he wanted us to find you and deliver a message.” Bolin finally spoke up.
“Zaheer is headed to the Northern Air Temple as we speak. He said he's gonna wipe out the new Air Nation and everyone in it. Unless you turn yourself over to him.”
