*As a warning, NO EDITING! At all. I'll go back later*

“Leaves from the vine, falling so slow-

like fragile tiny shells, drifting in the foam-

Cherry blossom, already drooping-

and soon she follows after.

Little Solider Boy, come marching home.

Cherry blossom, don’t drift too far-

Come back-

Return to me… come back… return to me.”

“Do you always sing when you meditate?”

My eyes popped opened at the sound of Opal’s voice. My hands brought the photo in my hands to my chest, where I slipped it into my shirt. Sniffling, I rubbed my hands over my face, hoping to quietly wipe away my tears without her seeing. She stood behind me, looking down.

“No- I just, it relaxes me sometimes is all.”

“Oh.”

I stood quickly, startling Opal.

“Now, if you excuse me, I need to- to go get ready for breakfast.”

Sliding past Opal, I left the Pavilion and headed back towards my guest room. The walk was quick and quite- with most of the town still waking up. My little suite was still dark inside, the curtains drawn from the night before. Flicking on a side lamp, I pulled the photo from where I had tucked it against my chest. Running my fingers over it, I fell to my knees as I pressed it against the mattress.

“Happy birthday my little sister…at least we got to celebrate this one before-”

My hands turned into fist, and rested over the photo as I fell against my bed. I muffled my sobs by burying my head into my blankets. Though I had given Maia her birthday present months before her actual birthday- I had broken he first radio but had been planning on replacing it, the day of her actual birthday was upon me, and she wasn’t there.

I bit the edge of my thumb nail between my teeth, as I paced the room. It was a little habit I was starting to pick up- biting my thumb nail and pacing. For some reason it comforted me, and right now I need the comfort.

“Are you all right? Where are you?”

I stopped midstep at the sound of Tenzin’s voice. We had huddled in one of the offices, using the radio phone to contact Tenzin. I hadn’t seen him since before my kidnapping, and I hadn’t had the chance to say good bye.

“With Beifong's sister in Zaofu. We're totally safe, unless we get caught in another fight between Su and Lin.”

“Lin willingly took you to her sister?”

“Not exactly. We got a call about an air bender and it turned out to be Su's daughter Opal. She'll be headed your way soon.”

“Really? That's wonderful!”

Bolin pushed Korra aside, grabbing the phone in his hands.

“She is wonderful, and pretty, and so smart, and she smells like flowers ...” Bolin noticed the glares coming from Korra and I. “Sorry, Bolin out.”

Bolin handed the phone back to Korra, and I took his place next to her.

“How's the training going?”

“Not so well, I'm afraid. No one seems to be interested in the hard work of becoming part of the Air Nation.”

My eyebrow fell at that statement. I had always thought air bending to be the most amazing thing ever, but then again, when Maia and I were first sent to Tenzin- I resented him. I had no desire to learn anything about the Air Nation. I wanted to learn the air bending moves, drive the getaway car for my fellow gang members and live off of the rush I got from it all.
