“Okay…I’m about finished.”

“Oh sweet spirits it hurts!”

“Well it should.”

I rolled my eyes only half way before my face winched with pain. Korra was in the middle of using her water bending to heal my wounds on my arms. And it hurt, like a lot. I didn’t want to be taken to the hospital for obvious reasons, so Korra offered to use her talent on me. Though I was told it would be painless.

“Okay…finished. I don’t think you should bend for a day or two though.”

I let out a sigh as she released my arm. I flexed it a few times looking down at the faint scar that you could barely see.

“I’ll try to contain my urge. Now can I get some sleep?”

“Sure. See ya in the morning. Night.”

“Night.”

As soon as the lights went out, I was sucked into a deep sleep.

The next time I opened my eyes, my room was dark, and my window panes were bouncing against each other and the wall. I got up, and closed them. When I went to latch them close I heard a faint sound, like a pebble rolling. Turning, I was met Amon. I screamed, calling for help, and tried to bend him away, but my bending wasn’t working. He just walked to me, laughed, and pushed me to my knees.

“Get ready, young bender, to be freed.”

As he placed his hand on my forehead, a blood curling scream rang out from my lips. I closed my eyes, as a burning started in my head.

My eyes opened to a dark figure hanging over me, pinning my arms down. I fought,  kicking my legs wildly.

“Let me go! Let me go! You’ll never take me! Never!”

“Zabri!”

I froze, my body going stiff.

“Tenzin?”

The figure released me, and sat up. With the light from the door shining on his face I could see it was in fact Tenzin.

“Zabri, what happened?”

“It-uh, I-uh, just…had…uh, a uh bad dream. Filled with talking animals and a man floating on a cloud singing about unlocking chuckles or something like that. I-I’m fine. It was all a dream.”

“You’re right it was, now get some sleep.”

He gave me a hug, and then closed my door. I looked over to my window, sealed shut.

“It was all a dream. Just a dream, nothing more.”

I didn’t get much sleep for the rest of the night, but when breakfast time came, I got up, got dress, and went and ate. After a small but of practice, I headed out to the city, to see  my sister.

Once in her room, on her bed and in the safety of her arms, I found myself drifting to sleep. The next thing I remember was her shaking me.

“Zabri, wake up! Listen to the radio!”

“…Our numbers grow stronger by the day,”

“Stronger? What does he mean Bri?”

I knew at once whose voice it was, though Maia sat up, entranced by the Amon’s voice.

You no longer have to live in fear.”

“Fear? Zabri, what’s going on?”

The time has come for benders to experience fear.”
