Sickie: Bang Chan
Caregiver: Jeongin
No one's POV.:
A cold had been going around the Stray Kids dorm recently. All of the members had been down with it at some point, except for Chan that is. The leader had spent less time at the studio, instead he had set up his laptop at the dinner table, so he could take care of his dongsaengs and get at least some work done in between. Jeongin was the last to recover. The maknae had been hit by the cold the hardest, being stuck in bed with a high fever for over a week. He had grown much closer to Chan, as the leader was worrying over the youngest the most. Jeongin hated bothering his hyungs with his struggles but Chan had been there the entire time, not making him feel guilty about needing someone once. The leader has sat by their youngest's bedside the entire night, holding an icepack to the vocalist's forehead and waking him every time he was caught in a feverish nightmare. The oldest had held the ailing boy and let him cry into his chest when the younger got emotional.Last night, Jeongin's fever had finally broken and all that was left was a slight cough. They had no dance practice today, instead they'd be staying at the studio all day. Chan wasn't planning on letting the maknae sing already, wanting him to rest his voice just a little longer till the cough would be tapering off. However, the leader didn't want his dongsaeng to feel left out, so they'd all be going together and he'd just occupy the youngest by asking him for help writing lyrics or anything that wouldn't stain the maknae's voice too much. Chan would probably be needing help phrasing his lyrics anyways. He had woken up in a bit of a daze and was still sleepy after finishing his morning coffee, which he blamed on the amount of sleep he lost while caring for his sick members. The other members were excited to properly work again after their schedule had been laying low, due to at least three members being sick at the same time. They had split up, everyone trying to be productive by themselves while taking turns caring for their friends. Today would be the first day with all of them working as a team together. Jeongin had been dearly missed by his hyungs and it was showing now. They were all doting on the maknae, drowning him in endless cuddles while the youngest tried to free himself, assuring that he was fine now. Felix had packed a large thermos with hot tea for the Jeongin's throat and Seungmin had taken two bags of different flavored cough drops with him, hoping to help his only dongsaeng out at some point. The maknae line had always been sticking together, even more so when one of them wasn't well, so it was safe to say that Chan didn't really get to be with the youngest anymore.
Sighing, the leader put his pen down and stared at the blank sheet of paper in front of him. He hadn't managed to come up with any lyrics and now asking Jeongin for help wasn't an option anymore as he was sandwiched between the other two maknae-liners. "Hyung, are you ok? Writing block?", Jisung asked, looking over the leader's shoulder. Chan nodded, resting his head in his hands: "It's like my brain is completely empty. I can't even hold onto one thought for more than two seconds." The younger's eyes widened at his hyung's statement or rather at the tone of the older's voice. "Whoa, you sound like you've been gargling glass", the rapper whispered, "did the cold finally hit you too?" The leader shook his head, not daring to use his voice again. If he was being honest, his throat was hurting a bit when he tried to talk or sing but he brushed it off, blaming it on the lack of sleep. Jisung knew better though: "Hyung, for me it started with my head feeling fuzzy and when you say you can't keep a thought, it makes me think you may be coming down with it too." The younger made sure to keep his voice low enough, so only Chan could hear, knowing the leader would only deny harder if he was exposed. "Sung, we can't afford anyone being sick anymore, we're so behind with our schedule, I have no idea how we're supposed to catch up", the oldest hummed, the sound vibrating lowly in his chest. Jisung rolled his eyes, of course, the leader didn't have time to be sick. "You know that sounds very different from 'I'm perfectly healthy and not sick'. You've been taking care of us the entire time, I'm actually confused you didn't catch it earlier", the rapper said sympathetically, resting his hands on his hyung's shoulders from where he was standing behind him. One of his hands however was conveniently placed directly onto the leader's skin, where it was exposed from the wide neck of the sweater. Jisung could feel the older's skin slightly warmer than expected under his fingers. The leader sighed and pulled his phone out. He knew there was no use in lying to the younger, the rapper was more observant than most people gave him credit for. Opening the notes app, Chan typed into his phone: 'Please don't tell anyone. For now I'm just tired'. Jisung had been reading over the leader's shoulder and could only roll his eyes, whispering: "Hyung, you should really rest, we all know how you feel, we've been there not too long ago." - 'I will rest but please let me get as much work done as possible before I start feeling sick. I'm not really sick yet, just slowly coming down with it', the older typed again, shocking his dongsaeng, who did not expect him to confess to it at all.
