No one's POV.:
Stray Kids had just finished shooting the first episode of Kingdom and were now completely hyped up. Not only were they glad they managed to get through their performance mistake-free, they were also amazed by the performances of the other groups. It was understandable that they couldn't stop talking while changing out of their costumes and walking to the van that would take them back to the dorm. Hyunjin was so occupied, comparing the different dance styles they had seen that he only changed his clothes but forgot to remove the dozens of hairpins that kept his long hair in place. They didn't matter right now anyways, he could still remove them at the dorm though it would take a while since their quite many of them. Filing into the car, the dance-racha sat in a row together, so they could continue to analyze their opponents' performances. Hyunjin sat in the window seat, he always did. The dancer was rather prone to getting carsick, so over time they had established that he'd always get a seat at the window. If he was able to watch the buildings pass by beside him, the movement of the car didn't get to him as badly. It had been years since he last got carsick, probably because he had always made sure to look out the window or he had just grown out of it. Nobody knew why but it didn't matter really, all that mattered was that he handled car rides just fine nowadays.
Hyunjin himself was convinced he had grown out of getting carsick but he didn't complain if he got the window seat anyways. They were almost thirty minutes into the drive and would still have to continue for another forty-five minutes when the dancer started to feel uncomfortable. His stomach felt a little unsettled, so he pulled his eyes away from the screen of Minho's phone where they had watched different performances and instead looked out of the window to his other side. Suddenly the inside of the car felt uncomfortably hot and cramped and Hyunjin started to sweat in the thin shirt he had put on when they were done. "Guys, could we maybe turn the air conditioning colder or crack a window or something? I'm feeling quite toasty", he asked, fanning himself with his hand. The other members shot him questioning looks as they felt the air conditioning had done a good job at bringing the air inside the car down to arctic temperatures. Chan turned around to the dancer from his seat a row further to the front, frowning: "You okay back there? It's pretty cold in here and you look a little pale to me." – "Oh really? I feel fine just pretty warm, maybe I'm still warm from the performance", he shrugged, turning to look out the window again.
After a few more turns in the road, Hyunjin could tell he wasn't just warm from dancing. Now he was convinced that he had messed up by watching videos on his hyung's phone. Had he only looked out the window like he always did, he for sure wouldn't feel so dizzyingly nauseous right now. Accepting that he certainly hadn't outgrown his tendency to get carsick, the dancer tried to calm his rumbling stomach by taking deep breaths and like he should have done earlier, he watched the buildings pass by his window. Sweat had started to pool on his forehead and also soak the back of his shirt, which now clung to his skin. Somehow looking out of the window didn't fix anything anymore at this point and Hyunjin muffled a queasy belch against his fist. He should have known better than to stare at a phone screen, so he had brought this on himself and therefore didn't want to speak up about it.
Minho and Felix were the first ones to notice their friend growing quiet. Hyunjin had gone from extremely invested in their conversation to barely listening and not saying a single word, turning his face away from them to look out of the window. Minho was the one who connected the dots, remembering that the reason the younger always needed to look out of the window was to keep him from feeling sick. Sitting between his two donsaengs, the oldest dancer laid a comforting hand on Hyunjin's shoulder humming: "Your stomach feeling alright?" That also caught Felix' and Seungmin's attention. The vocalist sat behind Hyunjin and knew how bad the latter's carsickness could get. At this point, the dancer didn't even trust himself enough to give a verbal reply, not daring to open his mouth at all. He was caught in a legendary war between his determination not to get sick and his angrily twisting stomach. Not really wanting to admit to it, Hyunjin didn't really have a choice because he'd probably need them to ask the driver to pull over pretty soon. To Minho, no answer was an answer too, so he asked in a hushed voice if they'd need to pull over or if he'd manage the remaining thirty minutes of the ride. Seungmin reached his hands over the back of his hyung's seat and comfortingly kneaded his shoulders to help the older stay calm. The second oldest was still waiting for an answer to if they needed to pull over and he got it when one of Hyunjin's hands shot up to his mouth, while the other clutched Minho's arm tightly.
