Little: Hyunjin
Caregiver: Chan
No one's POV:
They had had a stressful time of promotions, which left Hyunjin without any chances to slip into his headspace. There were a few occasions on which he almost slipped but his members always reminded him that he had to stay big for just a bit longer. That bit turned into weeks and at this point his headspace started to feel like a guilty pleasure to him, like something he enjoyed and wanted so bad but wasn't supposed to get. Chan had been avoiding him too, which made things worse for the dancer. The leader was his caregiver and although the rational part of Hyunjin's mind tried to tell himself that the older was just really busy and stressed, the little voice at the back of his head wouldn't stop telling him that his daddy didn't want him anymore. The dorm that had always made him feel sheltered and safe had started to make Hyunjin feel trapped and claustrophobic. They'd be busy all day and only come home late at night but not even then could the dancer slip into his headspace because of his two roommates. They did know about their friend being a little but they were as tired as him and just wanted to go to bed, so Hyunjin didn't want to disturb them by playing. He couldn't just leave the dorm and play somewhere else and the dorm started to feel smaller and smaller since everywhere he went to play without disturbing anyone, there was already someone else who would get disturbed if he slipped into his headspace.Chan had spent the past few weeks drowning in work. He barely even got the chance to go back to the dorm and sleep. Most of the nights, he'd sleep with his head on the desk or on the small couch in his studio. It simply saved him the time he'd need to walk to the dorm and back, especially because he wouldn't be able to fall asleep anyway if he went back to the dorm. If he tried to sleep in his own bed, he'd only think about how much work was still waiting for him, so he worked himself down to the core till he was seconds away from nodding off and either dragged himself to the couch or just slept in his chair. There was another issue that he'd have to face if he went to the dorm. His members were there and although he loved them all a lot, there was one that he had a huge soft spot for. Hyunjin. Chan was caregiver to the most adorable little but with how busy they were, there was no little-time. The leader would feel guilty if he went home and went straight to bed. The dancer would see him come home but Chan would choose to sleep over spending time with him and the older couldn't hurt him like that. He had noticed the longing gazes Hyunjin gave him during the day and although he longed to hold his baby just as badly, he couldn't. There was also something he hadn't realized up until this point. Usually, the stress wouldn't get to him as much as it did now because watching the little play worry free also made his own worries dissolve.
Now that promotions were over, Chan wanted to have some alone-time with his little and do something that would surely make the younger happy. The weather was good today, so after breakfast, he made sandwiches for them and sliced a few apples, packing everything into his backpack, along with a few little juice boxes. They hadn't been to the park in what seemed like ages, so why not enjoy the sun and their temporary freedom with a little picnic? He went to Hyunjin's room and found the younger on his phone. Giving his dongsaeng a small smile, he asked: "You wanna hangout today, Jinnie?" The nickname spoken so affectionately never failed to make the dancer feel all fuzzy inside and he got up to hug his hyung. "Daddy, Jinnie be little now?", the dancer asked shyly. The caregiver nodded, smiling: "Go ahead angel. Let's go to the park, yeah?" After the leader had tied the little's shoes for him, they were ready to leave. They walked to the park and as soon as they had to cross the first street, Jinnie slipped his hand into Chan's, giving him an innocent smile. The older already had the perfect spot for their picnic in mind. There was a huge tree which would give them some shade.
He placed his backpack down next to the tree and tapped the little's shoulder, speeding off after yelling: "Got you." Jinnie stood there confused for a few seconds but soon took off after his daddy, squealing happily. Having long legs certainly proved to be an advantage and he soon caught up to the other. It was only then that Chan noticed what he had gotten himself into as he struggled to keep up with the younger. There was something the leader could use to his advantage though. Jinnie got really easily distracted by the smallest things, so when he spotted a bumblebee on a flower, he sat down and watched it fascinatedly, completely forgetting about their game. It was easy for the caregiver to sneak up on him now and the chase started all over again. After running through the park for almost an hour, the rounds of tag had left them panting, so instead of running away when the little ran towards him, Chan caught him around the waist and breathed: "Let's take a break, daddy's tired." – "Jinnie hungwy", the other pouted, poking his tummy. The leader guided him back to the tree where he had left his backpack, laughing: "Good that daddy brought some food, hm?"
He spread out a blanket on the grass and told Jinnie to sit down, then he handed him a sandwich before also unpacking a box of apple slices. Punching the straw into one of the juice boxes, he handed it to the little cooing: "Daddy's little angel must be so thirsty after all that running around." The younger nodded, gulping down the juice. Chan sat down himself and took out his sandwich, watching his little nibble cutely on his. What had he done to deserve such a precious boy? It was truly a shame that they hadn't gotten to spend time together outside from their work for so long. If Chan had a say, he'd let little regress whenever he felt like it instead of always telling him he had to stay big. The younger watched birds fly by as they ate but Chan's eyes were solely on him. The leader was the first to finish his food because Jinnie took the smallest bites possible and sometimes forgot he was eating while gaping at animals he spotted around them. "Daddy, look! It looks like Jiji—hyung", he laughed, clapping his hands when he spotted a squirrel in the tree above them. Laying back, Chan followed the branches with his eyes and relaxed. It was sweet how calming littlespace could be even if you weren't the one regressing. It had just added some extra soft sweetness to his life and he wouldn't want to miss out on it anymore. Then he felt a weight on his chest. Lifting his head, he found the little cuddled into him. Jinnie snuggled extra-close, mumbling: "Wan' nap, daddy." Cooing, Chan drew patterns on the younger's back to lure him to sleep before closing his eyes too. Sleeping a bit more on days off surely wouldn't hurt him.
When Chan woke up again, Jinnie was gone. Eyes widening, he sat up and looked around but the younger was nowhere to be seen. All he found was a flower that fell out of his hair and into his lap. Confused, the leader reached up to touch his hair, only to find even more flowers in it. Carefully he plucked the flowers out and placed them on the picnic blanket. Then he got up to go look for his little but he didn't have to go far as the boy skipped towards him with a bunch of flowers in his hands. "Nuuuh, daddy why chu take 'em out?", he whined, realizing in horror that his pretty work had been destroyed, "Chu looked pwetty with pwetty haiw." – "Aww, angel, daddy's sorry. Do you want me to show you how to make a flower crown out of those?", Chan offered, guilty that he had put an end to whatever Jinnie was doing while he had been asleep. The younger quickly cheered up and nodded at him excitedly. They gathered all the flowers they had on the blanket and sat down in front of them, while Chan explained: "You just have to carefully twist the stems around each other. Then when you have a thin ring, you wrap more flowers around it." Jinnie did his best to follow his daddy's instructions and watch the older do it but it always came apart again. He frustratedly threw the flowers down after a few minutes and whined. Chan shifted his position to sit behind the younger, chuckling: "Let daddy help you." The little picked the flowers back up and let his caregiver guide his hands. Despite their best attempts, it didn't work and Jinnie pouted sadly. "It's okay, angel. Here, look at daddy", Chan comforted, placing the flower crown he had made on the little's head, cooing: "You're so, so pretty, baby."
The blush didn't really fade after that as the younger proudly wore his caregiver's flower crown. "Oh, I almost forgot. I brought a special treat for my little angel", Chan announced, rummaging through his backpack, "Look, animal crackers." Jinnie happily clapped his hands and opened his mouth for the older to feed him. He happily munched on his favorite snack forgetting his earlier frustration. "Nom", he giggled every time he popped another one into his mouth. The caregiver couldn't help but laugh along, secretly videotaping the scene. This was nothing he'd ever want to forget as his little had brought him more joy than he had felt in a long time. Just as they were at their happiest, a drop hit Chan's face and he looked up to see how big dark clouds had covered the sun. He quickly packed their things up and sighed: "Let's get home before the rain gets worse." Though reluctant, Jinnie got up too and pouted at the dark clouds. He was having so much fun with his daddy, so why did they have to ruin everything? They held hands while jogging back to the dorm building. Mere seconds after they had made it into the building, the real down pour started and they looked at each other, letting out a relieved laugh. They had made it home just in time. Home. Their dorm finally had become a shelter for Hyunjin again but on the other hand, home didn't have to be a place and the dancer realized now that home was the person he felt safest with, which was no other than his leader and daddy.
