It was around 8 pm when we heard voices getting closer and closer to where we were hiding inside of the ranch.

I was a little tired at the moment so I rested my head on Angelina's shoulder. If there was any reason for them to record while security was doing their nighttime check, the last thing anyone would want to see was me sleeping on Colby's shoulder. It would just start so much shit.

We kept quiet as we heard what sounded like two guys walking around the house, watching as the light from their flashlights shined through random cracks of the battered house.

"So my wife is making lasagna tonight for dinner, and she said I should bring you some tomorrow for lunch. Is that cool?" The guy asked.

"Mm, not to be rude Mike... but she really doesn't know how to season her food properly. It's just so bland."

I held my breath for a minute as they shined a light into the only window of the room that we were in. Luckily we were all pressed up against the wall where the window was.

"Try living with it all the time. I love her to death but she's not the greatest cook. It's just nice to come home after these long days and have something to eat."

"Well you got that bud. I think I'll pack my own lunch." He said with a laugh and clapped his hand on the other guys back.

"The coast is clear, let's get out of here and go home."

Corey couldn't help himself but snicker at the conversation the two security guards were having.

We sat there for at least twenty minutes before we decided that things would be safe for us to start our investigation. After all we only had until sunrise, so we needed to get a start on things.

So we got up one by one from our sleeping bags and talked about what our plan of attack was for the night.

"Alright." Sam said with a clap of his hands. "Colby, we'll work on this room. Jake and Corey you'll have the living room. Soph and Angelina you'll have the basement. Well do these locations for about an hour each. It's currently 9:30 so when your hour ends we'll change areas then get back together for a little."

Angelina shot me a look and spoke with zero enthusiasm. "Basement, yay."

I let out a laugh at her remark as she walked away to go get our equipment bag that I packed. Colby walked over to me with a soft smile on his face.

"Be safe for me, okay?" He said, gently resting his hand on my cheek. "I will, I promise. If need be, I'll just scream for help. We'll be good." He dipped his head down and pressed a soft kiss to my lips.

"I'll see you in a few hours." I said, gently brushing my thumb along his bottom lip. I could never get tired of him.

"Alright lovebirds, let's break it up so we can get on with this." Corey said. "The faster we get this over with the faster I can get my ass home."

Colby walked back over to Sam and closed the bedroom door to start their investigation. Angelina came back over and we made our way to the top of the basement steps.

She turned a flashlight on and I turned my night vision camera on.

"Bye ladies." Jake said as he closed the door behind us.

"Okay, you know I love you, but I will never let you forget the fact I have to be lockdown me investigating the basement of where Charles Manson lived! This isn't just a normal basement, this is creepy as fuck!" Angelina said, shining the light back in my face.

"Ang, damn!" I shouted, trying to walk down the steps, but the spots that I was now seeing from the flashlight made me miss the last step.

"Oh, fuck!" I yelled out. It felt like my ankle twisted a little but it wasn't the end of the world. Some of the steps were really worn and wobbly, so honestly anything was possible.
