About a week has passed now, and it was Christmas Eve in a rather warm LA.
It's been a pretty rocky week, granted because of the concussion I slept on and off a lot through the day.
Tara was able to get through to Jake and convince him to stop pushing buttons when it came to the investigation.
I'd like to say it was two days ago when the investigation of the Cecil Hotel wrapped up. I let the boys finish up with the Ghost Adventures crew. As much as it sucked missing out on the rest, I was still happy to have the chance to be there.
Evan kept up to his word and send down all of my belongings, and my car. My offer on the house I looked at went through, so Sam and Kat were in the process of helping me secretly move in. Christmas was an easy excuse to use as going out 'Christmas shopping' everyday. We made it work, for sure. I would fully be moved in — in time for Colby's birthday and truthfully I couldn't wait to surprise him.
Ryan and Angelina ended up flying back home once I was cleared from my concussion, which was good. It was nice to have the extra time with them since they pulled back from the investigation for their own safety.. but I wouldn't forgive myself if I didn't let them get home with their families.
Right now everything felt pretty full circle, but my intuition told me something was to happen down the road.. I wasn't gonna let that fuck up anything we currently had right now.
Sometimes happiness seemed to be hopeless with everything that can happen. It's hard to work through medical issues, anxiety, and lingering depression. Well, on top of seasonal depression and the early ass sunsets. I guess it doesn't matter where you live, it'll always catch up to you at some point. I do try my hardest to not let it bother me, because I have so much to be thankful for. I just think a lot of people could agree. We all have our good and bad days, right? Nobody is perfect.
"We'll, I think that's everything." Sam said, snapping me out of my trance.
I stood up from the floor and crossed my arms over my chest, getting a full look at everything.
"I can't believe we pulled this off during a concussion." I said with a chuckle, but that was full honesty.
"How are you going to keep this kept secret from Colby?" Kat asked.
"I'm staying with him still, but he does think we've been shopping so I'm happy I've had time to accomplish everything."
"I'm happy for you." Kat said and gave me a giant hug. "We'll see you at the gift exchange, right?"
I nodded my head. "Wouldn't miss it for the world."
"I'll meet you in the car." Sam said to Kat, she nodded and pulled the front door open, heading outside as the door closed behind her.
"Proud of you, Soph. I know a lot has happened since we first met, but we're so lucky to have you. Colby is very lucky to have you. You're like the missing piece to our puzzle."
"Oh Sammy, exactly how many references can you really make?" I asked with a giggle.
"Enough." He simply said, letting out a chuckle.
"I'm gonna uber over there tonight, if I take my car he'll be onto us."
Sam nodded once and pulled me in for a hug.
"See you later." He walked over to the front door and pulled it open, letting it close behind him as he left to meet Kat in the car.
I locked the front door and made my way upstairs. There was a solid five hours until the gift exchange, so I made my way into my bedroom and closed the door behind me.
"God, I can't believe it's Christmas already." I let out a sigh and sat on the edge of my bed. This would be my first Christmas without my 'family', and honestly I kinda missed them. It would hurt, but it's for the best.
I looked out the window to the sunlight, a light breeze blowing through the tree's. It sure was an adjustment from the snow covered Colorado that I was used to. But I was meant to be here.
Deciding to not get myself in my feelings before such a big celebration, I laid down to take a nap. I set an alarm on my phone and slid it under my pillow, so it would be sure to wake me up.
At first I really struggled to fall asleep, but then I found my eyes fluttering as I fought it off. It was just going to be a little power nap...
