We spent a few minutes just laying there in our own silence and cuddling. "We should really get the birthday boy back downstairs to his friends."

"No round two?" He asked and jutted out his bottom lip causing me to laugh. "We have plenty of time, just not tonight. Don't forget to fix that sex hair either."

I slid out from under the blanket and grabbed my dress and slipped it back on and went into the bathroom to fix any messy hairs and make sure my makeup was still in tact.

By the time I came back into the bedroom Colby was dressed and was fixing his hair using my vanity.

I unlocked the bedroom door and we headed out, closing the door behind us.

I was happy to throw such a nice party for Colby, but I was also nervous because I really didn't want anyone to fuck up my new home.

"Soph, this party turned out amazing!" Kat yelled out as she handed me a drink. "How was the surprise? And his gifts?"

"One question at a time." I said with a laugh. "He really liked it, actually. I think it's the thought of privacy. So I'm glad it went well." I paused for a moment and took a sip of my drink. "He likes his gifts too! "

Kat grinned and made an "awe" look. "He is so lucky to have you. I've seriously never seen him this happy before. It's nice to see."

"I could say the same, honestly."

"Okay, but can we talk about this?!" She asked as she grabbed my hand and held it up in the air for both of us to see.

"The birthday boy doesn't know how to not buy me a gift. He gave me a promise ring at dinner and my heart just about melted into a puddle. I really couldn't imagine my life without him."

I glanced around the party crowd and spotted Colby playing beer pong against Sam. He was cheering because he made one in the cup.

It truly made my heart happy to see him so happy. Especially when I was just a fan and would watch from the outside... the empath in me could tell when he had a dark cloud over him. You don't have to see someone in person to read them.

But it was like life was really starting to click. He went from being so hurt from his last relationship and keeping himself single so he wouldn't have to go down the same road again... to giving me a chance.

I really didn't think after my relationship with Evan, and especially how things were after it ending that I would be in the place that I am — all from a simple trip to Vegas. I didn't think after catching him cheating, that I would ever be able to live on. To not be a miserable mess every single day, to actually loving my life.

I didn't expect to get away from my abusive dad. I never understood why my family treated me the way they did, and why I put up with it for so long. How wasn't I able to read between those lines?

It's really crazy to me how a very long series of unfortunate events, that it would bring me to this place in my life.

My best friends have a baby on the way. Sam and Kat are getting married. Corey and Devyn are back together. Tara and Jake are looking for their own place... and even though we're not talking after what happened, I really do wish the best for him.

How far along Sam and Colby have come on their own. For giving me a once in a lifetime chance just meeting in the street and letting me join them for their investigations.

From meeting Zak at a trip to the haunted museum, and being invited to investigate the Cecil Hotel with his crew. Zak, Aaron, Billy, and Jay were all amazing guys, and I am so lucky to call them my friends.

I'm really hoping to see Zak propose to Holly, though.. something tells me he's thinking about his future with her. Maybe this time he found his soulmate.

I really have no idea what life is going to have in store for Colby and I, but this promise ring made me excited. Because no matter what, he does see a future with me. He see's marriage, he see's kids, growing old together.

I want to continue to adventure this crazy world with him, because there's nothing else that I live more. We almost feel like an unstoppable duo when we're together. Good or bad, we have each other's back's.

Before I knew it, the night was over and the final party guests were leaving. Sam and Kat were laying on the couch watching a movie. We decided to just clean up in the morning because it's been a pretty long day.

We were also pretty drunk though.

I sat outside in the backyard with my feet in the pool, before someone came and sat down next to me.

"Thank you for making this the best birthday ever." Colby said as he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me onto his lap.

"I just wanted to say how fucking much I'm in love with you. You really do make life worth living." He said before pressing his lips to mine, which led to a drunk makeout session.

"I will always love you, Colby Brock."
