I woke up the next morning and patted the spot beside me, just to remember that we were sleeping in bunk beds. At least me and Soph were. She let Ryan and Angelina have the room with the queen sized bed.
She was just so caring.
I got up from bed and stood still for a second so I could stretch my body. I went to the bathroom to take care of my business and let out a yawn as I went to leave the RV.
"Morning, Colby!" Aaron greeted me with as I stepped off of the RV.
"Hey Aaron. Have you seen Soph anywhere?" I asked, squinting my eyes slightly from the morning sun.
"Since she wasn't going to investigate today, she said something about getting everyone breakfast. I could've sworn she was back." He said, scratching at his head.
"She's back." Jay said, biting into a piece of toast. "She took the rest of our crew's food to Zak's RV."
"Gotcha. Thanks guys." They each nodded their heads at me and I went past Sam's RV, and stopped at Zak's.
I raised my hand up and knocked three times. I chewed at the inside of my cheek waiting, but there was no answer.
Deciding against waiting any longer, I pulled the door open and peaked my head inside, but I didn't see either of them.
"Zak? Soph?" I called out.
My heart felt like it was beating out of my chest as I stepped inside, almost as if I wasn't supposed to be in here.
I honestly wasn't sure if this was worth it anymore. This place just had too much darkness surrounding it.
"Soph? Come on, this isn't funny." I stopped when I heard noise coming from where his room was.
"Zak?" I called out one last time. Just as I turned my back to leave, his door cracked open.
"You good?" He asked, peaking out at me.
"Yeah, I'm sorry. Jay said Soph was here so I was just trying to find her." I said.
"She only came in here to drop off the food on the table. I wasn't out of my room when she did that, because I had someone spend the night with me."
"Oh shit dude, my bad." I scratched at the back of my neck awkwardly.
"It's okay. If I see her before you do, I'll send her your way." He said, and I nodded my head.
"I appreciate it. I'll see you later." I pushed the door open to the RV and walked out, closing the door behind me.
"Did you find her?" Aaron asked, and I shook my head.
"Nope." I let out a sigh and sat down at the table with him.
"I haven't seen her come out of there. Unless I've had my head way too buried in my camera looking over some evidence." He stopped for a second. "Shit, I'm sorry. That probably didn't sound right."
"I'm an idiot!" I exclaimed as I got up from the bench.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"He just looked me dead in my eye and said he had company."
"Yeah right." Aaron said with a chuckle. "He went to bed before we did. There's nobody in there."
"Fuck this!" I ran back over to Zak's RV and pulled the door open and stormed inside. "I'm not playing your fucking games, lover boy." I spat as I stopped in front of the door to his room. I turned the knob and pulled it open, and right in my view was Sophia in his bed, holding blankets up to cover her naked body.
"Oh my god.." I slowly took a step back, shaking my head in disbelief.
"Colby, please!" She yelled out.
"Fuck both of you!" I yelled out before running out of the trailer.
I woke up almost fully out of breath, my hands clawing at my chest. "Fuck, fuck, fuck.." I pulled the covers up to my face and quietly tried to calm my breathing. My eyes were watering and I was trying my best to not let it look like I was crying.
"Soph?" I called out softly.
She didn't answer.
I got down from the top bunk slowly, so I didn't end up making a loud thud when I hit the floor.
There she was in the bottom bunk, fast asleep.
It was just a fucking nightmare.
I was honestly just getting into my head too much. I know that I had nothing to worry about. He's known to be a tool when it comes to women, so maybe I really was overthinking all of this.
"Soph?" I lightly nudged at her shoulder.
"Colby?" She said softly, running over her eyes. "What time is it?" She asked.
I looked across the RV and squinted my eyes to read the time. "Looks like 4 am."
"Why are you up?" She asked.
"I had a nightmare. Can I just lay with you to relax?" She nodded her head and immediately held the blankets up.
"Come on, get in." She smiled softly and moved over to give me enough room. I carefully got in and she dropped the blankets over my body.
"What happened?" She asked me, resting her head on my shoulder as she hand absentmindedly started tracing shapes on my chest.
"I had a dream that I caught you cheating on me." I paused and let out a heavy sigh. "With Zak."
"Oh baby." She raised her hand and gently cupped my cheek. "I would never." She pressed a gentle kiss to my cheek. "It would never happen. I love you, Colby. I would never do anything to hurt you in such a way."
"I know you wouldn't. I just woke up in such a panic. It just felt so real." I said.
"Yeah, but don't all nightmares feel that way?" She asked, and I nodded my head. "It'll be okay, baby. It really just feels like this place has a hold on people. It's dark, it's evil. Don't let it dig into your subconscious. You have to be stronger than places of this nature."
"You know, it really is a great opportunity, but it's only been one day and this place is bat shit crazy." She let out a soft laugh. "That's for sure. Let's try to get some sleep, yeah?"
She nodded and I wrapped my arms around her body and held her close to me.
Within ten minutes she fell back to sleep, and I found myself tracing my fingertips along her skin until I fell asleep myself.
