Myself and Angelina went out separate way from everyone else, and I honestly felt bad for Sophia. She seemed really shocked at her friends behavior.
"So, what was up with all of that back there?" I shoved my hands into my pockets, trying to break the awkward silence that there was between us. "That didn't seem like your typical behavior back there."
"Because it wasn't." She sighed and shook her head. "I don't know what came over me and truly I am sorry, I shouldn't have gone off on a tangent like that. I'm not one to blow up on people like that, even more to involve Sophia."
"Well what do you believe caused it?" I asked, looking over at her.
"Just coming here. I can see how much her life has changed since we got here. We've done our own paranormal investigations, we went to Zak's museum and got a personal tour from him. Came out here to see the house he owned from the murders, met you guys, hung out and partied with y'all." She paused for a moment.
"Truthfully, Colby. I haven't seen her this happy in years, and I'm very glad for that. She's doing something right now that she loves and has always wanted to do. But I am scared for her."
"Scared? What for?" I took a sip of my water while I waited for her to explain exactly what she meant.
"Sophia thinks I don't know this, but I know how to dig around for answers. The breakup with her ex-fiancé wasn't mutual. She caught him cheating on her in her own bed with another girl. Turns out he had a secret girlfriend. She said it was mutual to save herself the embarrassment, but how would you feel when your partner of five years does that, and takes your pets? She needed a reason to come out here still even if she wasn't getting married. This trip has always meant so much to her. Even more now that she's single. I'm pretty sure her silly celebrity crush filled mind was destined to meet you. The both of you were destined to meet, and you can't change my mind about that."
"Wow.." I raked my fingers through the purple tips of my hair as we walked, just taking a minute to process everything that Angelina told me.
"She doesn't deserve any of that. Wether we were destined to meet or not, I just don't want to hurt her. As of right now it wasn't supposed to go as far as we let it, and typically this isn't something I would allow. None of this is. I never meet someone on the street and just invite them into my life, but she seemed different."
"That's because she is different."
"The problem is her going back home though. This was the first time I've opened myself up to someone in years, and it's her last two days of you guys being here. I don't know what life is going to be like when she's home in Denver. I don't want her to be away from me. I've let myself get so fucking invested and now she's gonna be gone."
"Colby, please." She stopped in her tracks and grabbed my wrist to get me to stop right there with her. "Do you really think that she would just be 'gone'? A girl that has never had anything in life that was there when you and Sam started on vine, you really think she's going somewhere? Cause if you do, you just might be all looks and no brain." She said with a laugh.
"Hey!" I playfully rolled my eyes at her.
"You're missing the point though. I don't want us being apart be the reason I end up hurting her. Soph isn't someone that's in my life that I'm okay with losing. She's special, and she wouldn't be in my life if she wasn't. She's meant to be in it, and that's a fact."
"Listen to me, okay? I think you just need to take a breather. You didn't hear it from me, but she's always wanted to move out here. So please just stop talking so negatively about what's going to happen when we leave, cause frankly I don't even know what she's going to decide about doing."
"Wait a minute.." I looked around as we stopped in our tracks as I looked around. "What happened to the trail that we were walking on?"
Angelina seemed to be just as confused as me. We were walking on a straight path which seemed to have disappeared while we were walking which left us off track.
"Let's go this way! Maybe if we follow it for a little bit we can find our way out of here." I nodded my head and followed her lead through the park in hopes we would find our way out soon, and that everyone else wouldn't be waiting on us too long.
"Hey, wait a minute! Is that them over there?" Angelina asked as she pointed towards the right of us.
"I think so, let's go!" I held out my hand to her which she grabbed onto and we ran through the rest of the trail towards everyone else. At least that's what we were hoping, because the last thing we needed was this park playing tricks on us.
"Soph? Hey, are you guys okay?" We ran over to the group and I let go of her hand as we got to them. "I guess we took a wrong path, and we didn't mean to screw up us going in separate directions."
"It's fine. I'm fine." She stood up and brushed and dirt off her butt and glanced over at Angelina. I'm hoping after our talk she would be able to hash things out with Sophia. I wanted them to enjoy the last of this trip, not spend it fighting.
I quickly engulfed her in a hug and she let out a sigh. "There really is something about the energy of this place." She stood back and my bottom jutted out. "We're you crying?"
"I said I'm fine Colby, please." She looked up to me and flashed me a small smile.
"Brothers, coast clear?" She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion about my question and watched as all of them looking around before answering. "All good brother." Corey said as they turned their backs to us and motioned for Angelina to do the same.
I looked down at Sophia as I cupped her cheeks and dipped my head down to press a very deep kiss to her lips. It felt as if speaks flew everytime. I just wish life was easier on us so we didn't have to go our separate ways.
