"Holy shit!" We ran downstairs to Ryan who was watching the news as they talked about an incoming snowstorm. We were only supposed to get a couple of inches but it ended up shifting so now we're getting buried in it.
"In the last two hours we've had a total of 6 inches blanket there ground. By morning we should surpass a foot of snow. If you don't have a reason to leave your house, for the safety of yourself and others please stay home."
"Well, I guess that settles it. We're getting fucked up." I looked over at Angelina as a grin formed on my lips.
"Ryan, there is a spare sweatsuit Evan left here, would you want that to sleep in? Hell, you can even keep it for all that I care." He nodded. "That would be great actually."
I went back upstairs to get the sweatsuit that was tucked away in the closet, then grabbed some sweats for Angelina to change into. Before going back downstairs I grabbed a bag of edibles that I had leftover from LA.
If we're gonna be snowed in, we might as well do it the proper way.
"Alright, here we go!" I handed each of them clothes and let them go to the guest bedroom to change. While they were gone I popped one of the gummies into my mouth.
"Who wants some?" I sing-sang as they walked back into the room.
"Bitch you already know that I do!" Angelina giggle and made grabby hands for the bag, so I tossed it over to her. Soon enough Ryan would have his head buried in my fridge wanting to eat all of my leftovers. But I didn't mind. Sometimes life worked in mysterious ways, and in a way that I didn't know, I probably needed them here. I stayed in solitude for so long.
Just as I sat down on the couch my phone started to ring. It was Colby.
"I'll be back in a few, you guys find something to watch." I walked into the kitchen and answered the call.
"Hey Colby! How's Kansas going?" I asked as soon as the call connected. "It's good, I'm going to be leaving tomorrow night. How are you holding up?"
"I'm good. Angelina and Ryan came over for dinner only to get snowed in. They're saying we're going to have over a foot of snow by the morning." I said with a frown. "I just don't know if the weather is safe enough for you to fly out here for a couple of days. If there's any sort of delay on a flight, promise me you'll just go home. I don't want you to risk yourself trying to come here."
"Fine. Not that I particularly like keeping you alone, but I promise it it's too bad that I'll go back to LA. I just wish that you could come with me." He paused and looked directly at me. "I miss you, Soph."
"I miss you too, Colby. I promise that this will be worth it. It's just a little bump in the road, but let's not forget about all of the progress that we've made this month. Don't let these small things get you down."
"I'm just happy I get to call you and see your face. Soon I'll have you in my arms." He said.
"You will. But enjoy your family time." I said as I peaked around the corner to see if Angelina and Ryan picked out something to watch. "Oh hell yes!"
"What?" He asked out of confusion, not know what I was talking about. "They put on Spongebob!" Colby chuckled. "You're a little high, aren't you?"
"Maybe a little buzzed too." I said with a laugh. "It's just simple but good fun. I promise I'm fine and we'll be fine. I've lived through winters like these my entire life, I know how to handle myself. They won't leave here until the city can get caught up on the roads. Probably until tomorrow night at the latest."
"Well that does make me feel a little bit better. I'll call you tomorrow and let you know how my flight is, alright?"
"Okay. I'll look forward to it." I blew a kiss to him as a smile formed on his lips. Then I hung up. I set my phone on the counter and ran back into the living room and plopped down on the empty spot at the end of the couch and grabbed my blanket that was draped over and curled up in a ball.
We ended up watching a few episodes before Ryan went upstairs to go to bed, or either play a game on his phone. We really didn't know. Once he got up we went into the kitchen and pulled out all the snacks. Ice cream, Resse Cups, cookies, chips. We were just gonna pig out and watch Ghost Adventures eight from the very start.
Bobby Mackey's Music World.
I remember when this aired when I was a kid how much this episode would freak me out. Now as an adult it was something I would run to.
"I would honestly shit my pants if we ever went there... like for any reason at all." Angelina said as she stuffed some chips into her mouth.
"Oh, let me tell Sam and Colby! That could be our next location to go to." I smiled innocently over at her and let out a laugh.
"Don't you dare! That's probably one place I would not want to step into."
"But going into the Spahn Ranch basement was okay?" I questioned.
"Well no... really. But you've seen what's happened there! Excursions, boards being thrown, all the shadow figure." She said in defense.
"We literally went to places where people were murdered and planned murder. Think about it."
"I'll think about it, but nobody said I have to like it!" She laughed and out the bag of chips down on the coffee table.
A night like this was really something that I needed.
