After the lunch break the guys headed back into the building, and I went into the RV. I wasn't really sure what to do with myself, so I went to lay down and take a nap. I felt really useless doing nothing while everyone was off investigating, but apparently I needed it.

A few hours passed by and I was woken up by a call coming in. It was pretty typical of me to sleep with my phone under my pillow, that being said it woke me up fairly easy.

I pulled it out from under the pillow and answered it, not even looking at the caller ID. "Hello?" I said groggily, using my other hand to rub the sleepiness from my eyes.

"Sophia, so nice of you to answer." The man on the other end said. But it wasn't just any man, it was Evan.

"Evan? I have you blocked.. how the hell are you calling me?" I asked, ripping the blankets off of my body and getting up from the bed.

"I just wanted to thank you for accepting our offer on the house, it always was so beautiful."

"That was you? Where did you ever acquire that much money?" I asked.

I wasn't trying to be nosey, but this man was cheap... as fuck.

"Well, at thanksgiving you announced that you wanted to sell the house and move to LA to be with that one guy."

"Colby, he has a name." I interjected.

"Yeah, anyways. My fiancé, her father owns a business and offered to get us a house we loved. I loved your grandma's house. I know that you hate me, and you have every right to. But you seem to be really happy, and instead of you being held back in Denver, we want you to live the life you've always wanted. I truly did love you, Soph, but we were polar opposites. Just think that if our breakup didn't happen, you wouldn't have met Colby."

I stood in my spot really just thrown off from how nice he was being. The last year of our relationship was really... rough.

"You there?" His words pulled me from my train of thought.

"Are you sure you're not pranking me? Because this is awfully nice of you... like too nice."

All I heard was a chuckle on the other end.

"I should really make it up to you, and I think it's in your best interest to be away from your family. That last stunt was bad enough."

"You don't have to tell me twice, it certainly wasn't fun to experience any of that. It would've been worse if Colby wasn't there. I probably would've ended up dead."

"So let me do this for you. I'll send a uhual down with your things, I'm sure you have a place down there?" He asked.

"I put an offer in for a place, just hoping to hear back. I did offer a little bit more since I accepted a higher offer."

"Where are you staying currently?"

"At Sam and Colby's house, it's a literal mansion. There's always so many people here, that's why I wanted my own place. Especially if things progress with us, it'll be nice for him to have a place to just move into." I said, peaking out one of the windows.

"So I'll send it to his house?" He asked.

"Oh no, that wouldn't work. He doesn't know about any of this honestly, Sam and his girlfriend do actually. I wanted to leave here for a few days as if I went home, and come back to surprise him for his birthday."

"That's sweet of you, I'm sure he'll like it. How about you just shoot me a text when I can send it down, we'll keep everything together until then."

"Sounds good. Thank you for this... it means a lot to me." I said, which was true. This was probably one of the best and nicest things he's ever done for me. I was still a little thrown off, but I wouldn't decline something that was going to help me get away from here.

"Of course. I guess I just batted and eyelash towards your dad because of how well he treated me. I wish that it was something I picked up on before, but it's better late than never?" He said.

"For sure. I appreciate this new little side of Evan."

"I'm trying to be a better person, I needed to make it up to you."

"You are, thank you again."

"No problem. I'll talk to you later Soph."

"Bye, Evan."

I pulled the phone away from my ear and ended the call, setting my phone down. I was still in shell shock though because that phone call and his actions were honestly surprising. Obviously for us to get together and get engaged he had to be a good guy.. it just flipped like a switch one day.

"Ugh, what the fuck." I groaned out, bringing my hands up to my head and resting them on my temples. "What is going on?"

I kneeled down slowly, my head still in my hands. "Just show me what it is, why do I feel like this?" I closed my eyes and let out a shaky breath. My head felt like it was pulsating, and I could barely see straight. It honestly felt like my head was going to explode.

"Why me?" I mumbled.

"Because only you have the ability to see us." A male voice said.

I rubbed over my eyes before slowly opening them, to see a man standing across from me. "Richard.."

"Surprise." He said with a grimacing smirk.
