BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.
I groaned at the sound of how loud Colby's alarm was to wake us up. He was a deep sleeper, so I whipped my arm over to him and smacked him in the chest to wake him up. "Colby, turn your damn alarm off already!" I said with a huff.
"Sorry, sorry." He said in a mumbled tone and turned the alarm off.
"That means it's 2:50, we need to get ready for the seance." Sam said as he stood up from his sleeping bag.
"Oh no. I'm sorry Samuel, but you got me fucked up. A hundred percent." Angelina said and I couldn't help but laugh at the tone of her voice.
"Listen, we're never going to ask you to do this again. Are you really going to go this far with everything that's happened and the seance is what you say no to?" Sam questioned, pointing his flashlight over at her.
"Fine." She rolled her eyes playfully and crossed her arms over her chest. "But never again, you better remember that."
We all got up from our sleeping bags and made our way out of the room to the living room. We grabbed the rickety table from the kitchen and carried it into the living room.
"Before we start, we need to cleanse the air. They say it's best to use something that has a good scent and walk around the table in a a circular motion once, it's to help keep negativity away as much as possible." I said.
"I told you Sam, she's coming for your job!" Corey said with a laugh.
"I have a travel size perfume. Just use one spritz each and take turns. Then we can set up the rest and get started."
I handed the perfume to Sam. He sprayed it once on his chest and walked around the table in a circle. Next was Colby, Jake, Corey, Angelina, and myself.
Once that was done Sam set up the candles on the table in a circle. Colby took a small plastic cup and water bottle from his bookbag. He set the cup on the table and filled it with water.
Sam set a piece of paper and a pen on the table then lit each candle one by one. "Well, I generally lead these but I think Soph should."
"Woah, what?" I questioned and looked over at him.
"Think about it this way. We wouldn't have even thought about trying to help spirits pass on or what trouble they could be dealing with. It's obvious that you've got a sixth sense, and a kind enough heart to help them go to the light."
"You got this, Soph." Colby said and brushed his hand over mine. "And if you think it's too much, we can close it at anytime."
I let out a deep sigh and looked between them before muttering a "fine."
Sam lit the candles one by one. I took in a few more deep breaths trying to relax myself before the seance started. "Everybody grab hands." I said and we all laced our hands to form a big circle.
"Okay, we want to speak to George. Close your eyes and say this with me." I gave them the nod to close their eyes.
"Dear George, beloved spirit, please move among us and speak through us. We welcome you with open minds and hearts." We all said in unison.
We stood still for a minute to listen for any sounds. My back was facing the now open and broken door to the basement, and I couldn't help but the tingling feeling of something wasn't right.
Not that most basements in general didn't feel good to me either.
"George, we spoke earlier. My name is Sophia, to refresh your mind. I am here with my friends and we would love to be able to speak with you, and move you into peace if you would like." I took a deep breath and tilted my head to the side. I stood there quietly and shut down any other thought in my mind to listen for what was only necessary.
