Flashback

"Thanks for tonight, Miks", I said as I led her to her dorm's entrance.

"Okay", she said and was about to enter when I grabbed her wrist.

"Your movie date with Fonzo tomorrow, tuloy na ba talaga? Hindi ko na mapipigilan?", I pleaded.

"What did I tell you? I'll do my thing, you do yours. Kief, I have my own life now. It's up to me to choose the people whom I want to be part of it."

She removed her wrist from my grip and went inside. I wasn't able to do anything. I'm at loss for words. It took me a while before I could move and get back to my car. That feeling when the woman you love tells you that she has her own life already, and implying that you're no longer part of it. I was close to crying.

I went home with such a heavy heart. But I didn't want to end the night without putting up a fight. I sent Mika a message. I just wanted to know if we're good after that conversation.

"Miks, I'm home already. Are you about to sleep?"

"Hi Fonzo! I'm home na. I didn't really enjoy Tagaytay. I'll see you tomorrow! I'm excited for the movie as well", Mika replied.

I threw away my phone and hid under my comforter. Without me knowing it, my tears started falling. I'm a man, but I'm human. I didn't bother to reply anymore. Masakit eh. Regrets. If I was only wise enough, I shouldn't be crying like a young boy here.

I was close to falling asleep when I received a message from Mika.

"I'm sorry. I didn't notice, I sent the wrong message."

"It's okay. And I'm sorry if you didn't enjoy Tagaytay. I'm sorry if I could no longer make you happy", I replied.

"I'm happy on my own. I guess I don't need a specific person to make me happy, goodnight", she said.

If words could only kill, I'd probably be dead now.

Present

Kiefer

It's a Saturday. We just finished our morning practice and I saw Fonzo heading to his car. I took the chance and confronted him.

"Fonz, saan ang punta?"

"Bakit?"

"Tuloy ang movie?"

"How did you know?", he asked.

"Mika told me."

"Yeah. I'm about to fetch her. Do we have a problem about it?"

"Just so you know, I'm not giving up on her."

"I know. How about her? Just so you know as well, I think she has given up on you already. So, pwede na ba akong umalis? I don't want to be late. Your ex girlfriend is waiting for me."

Damn it. How come I wasn't able to give him a great comeback?

Mika

Fonzo and I are currently watching the movie. To be honest? I'm kinda bored. I mean, the movie is good so far. But I'm just not into it. My mind is somewhere else, which I can't even figure out where.

"Fonz, I'll just go to the restroom ah?"

"Okay", he said.

Whenever Kiefer and I are watching a movie, hindi iyon pumapayag na bumaba ako magisa. Every time I need to go to the restroom, he would always accompany me and he'll just wait for me outside. I guess Fonzo isn't just as protective as Kiefer. And why am I comparing them in the first place?
