Yoongi and Jin get married, it's surreal. Jungkook and Taehyung get to be the best men, mostly because they both are the youngest but Jungkook has the biggest, stupidest smile on his face all the time. And Taehyung nudges Jungkook in the ribs when Jin and Yoongi kiss, the same stupidest and the biggest smile on his face too. It all goes well.
In October Jimin and Hoseok decide to get married too. Hoseok had this big proposal planned for Jimin and Jimin obviously said yes and they decided to get married. Taehyung and Jungkook get to be best men again. Jungkook may or may not have cried when both of his hyungs were taking their wedding vows.
When Jungkook and Taehyung drive back from Jimin and Hoseok's wedding they chat about all the happy memories they had in college, about how they both met, the first kiss, the first time cuddling together, how Jungkook proposed Taehyung in the library of the college, everything. It's a good trip down the memory lane that makes Jungkook realize how far he has come and how Taehyung has been a constant in his life.
When they arrive at their apartment, Jungkook parks the car and gets out of it. Just when he is about to enter the building Taehyung stops him, "Why don't you go for a walk…?"
Jungkook's face resembles that of a meme with question marks, "Huh?"
"Just got for a walk, around the block. For like...20 minutes."
"But why?"
Taehyung nudges him to go away, "Just go, get me flowers or something."
Jungkook smirks, "Is this the part where you wear lingerie and a butt plug and put on a show for me?"
"No!" Taehyung blushes, flustrated.
Jungkook raises a brow and Taehyung literally pushes him away towards the roadside. "Maybe another time. Now go, don't be back before 20 minutes."
When Jungkook comes back home after 20 minutes with the flowers, of course. He is a good boyfriend after all. He is buzzing with excitement, he is also a little bit nervous because he has no idea what to expect but he has a good feeling about this.
When he knocks on the door, he gets a text from Taehyung saying that Jungkook can come in. He takes a deep breath and opens the door.
The view of the living room knocks the breath out of his lungs. All lights are turned off but the room is not dark, it's in fact glowing with all the candles Taehyung has lit up. There are candles on the tables, on the counter, on the floor, on the shelves by the wall, on big and tall candle holders. There are candles everywhere and then there is Taehyung.
Taehyung who is standing in the middle of the living room of their home with a big boxy smile on his face. Taehyung who is glowing brighter than the candles.
Jungkook walks inside the living room, his eyes fixated on the love of his life. When he is closer to Taehyung, the elder takes both of Jungkook's hands into his own.
"This is beautiful," Jungkook whispers, "You're beautiful," he says to Taehyung.
Taehyung smiles and plants a kiss on Jungkook's lips, "Stay here, I have something for you."
Jungkook holds his breath when Taehyung turns around and goes somewhere in the room and comes back, his hands behind his back.
And then he gives Jungkook his present. It's the green vase. Jungkook's green vase, the one Taehyung gave him. It's not the same as before, the seams from where it was broken are glued back but with golden colors. It looks more pretty. Jungkook stares at it shockingly.
"Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold. It is a metaphor for embracing your flaws and imperfections."
"Jungkook, remember when this vase broke you said that 'we are broken'-" Jungkook recalls and then nods, regretting saying those words.
"I just wanted to show you that just like this vase, even if we are broken, we are beautiful."
Jungkook is crying, he doesn't even realize it until he feels the wetness on his cheek and then the warmth of Taehyung's hand rubbing his tears away.
"You and me, Jungkook. I think we are beautiful and I love you. I don't think I can ever stop that."
Jungkook looks at the vase, it's really beautiful, more beautiful than it was before and it made Jungkook realize that he and Taehyung were not perfect before, they had their ups and downs but they always shined out of it, they're together, happy, content and in love. That should be enough to spend a life with someone.
Jungkook keeps the vase on the table beside them and leaps into Taehyung's arms, the need to be closer to the elder running thin.
"Thank you, thank you so much. I love you so much, god!"
Taehyung chuckles, carding his fingers through Jungkook's hair. "I had this vase made for some time now, I just wanted a perfect time to give it to you. You know, seeing Jin and Yoongi Hyung getting married and then Jimin and Hoseok Hyung getting married got me wondering what I want with you."
Taehyung pulls away to look at Jungkook, his hands still cupping his cheeks, "I think that we have a long way to go, we have been together for 10 months now and it's ok, we will do everything at our own pace, at the right time. But today I want to promise you something."
Taehyung lets go of Jungkook's cheeks and brings his hand forward, fists his hand, and brings his pinky finger out, "I want to promise a forever with you, will you promise me the same?"
He looks hopefully at Jungkook. Jungkook's breath gets literally knocked out of his lungs. This is everything he ever wanted. A small apartment, a job, friends, and of course Taehyung. Jungkook has never been so happily in love before.
He smiles and links his pinky with Taehyung's. He scoots closer to Taehyung and kisses him, deep and meaningful as if he doesn't need words or as if the world will end the very next moment or as if at the same time he has all the time in the world because Taehyung is his now, for forever.
"Yes, I promise to forever love you."
