I wrote this chapter for sunflowerkoo because she deserves all the cute dates in the world.__________________________
Jungkook is millennial enough to know that IKEA dates are a fucking bop, although he has no idea how and why Taehyung is taking him on a date to IKEA. Knowing Taehyung, Jungkook was expecting a date to some amusement park or romcom marathon, because he loved those, but not this. Not a date where you go furniture shopping. Nonetheless, he is excited, just the mere thought of spending time with Taehyung is making him feel elevated.
With very much contemplating and sending thirty pictures to Jimin and Jin (as if he is in highschool going on a date with his crush for the first time) he finally decides his outfit. It's simple, same as all the clothes in his wardrobe but with a dash of color. A blue and mustard yellow striped T-shirt with a navy blue heavy jacket, white washed ripped jeans and of course chunky boots. He quickly styles his hair and parts the strands from the side, smiling to himself in the mirror reflection approving his looks.
As if on cue his cell phone rings with a text from Taehyung saying that he is here. Jungkook takes a deep breath to calm down his giddiness and grabs his belongings, locking the door behind him as he exits his apartment.
Taehyung is standing by the door of his car, leaning against it. He immediately perks up when he sees Jungkook, sweetly smiling. Jungkook has to physically restrain himself from not running into Taehyung's arms. He tries to some extent but fails when he is a few steps away from Taehyung when he briskly walks and falls into Taehyung's arms. The embrace is warm as always, a soft waft of Taehyung's cologne and his citrus fragrance. Jungkook sighs content, tilting his head so he can kiss Taehyung full on lips. They hold the kiss just like how they're holding each other, tight but warm.
"Ready to go?" Taehyung asks, his hands rubbing against Jungkook's sides.
Jungkook nods and they both get into Taehyung's car. "Here, I got you this," Jungkook says, pulling out a Reese's peanut butter cup from his jacket pocket. He knows it's Taehyung's favorite.
Taehyung instantly perks up, "Thank you! I wanna eat it now."
Jungkook tears open the packet and feeds Taehyung who hums when the butter melts on his tongue. The rest of the car ride is filled with both of them talking about their week.
"I got chosen as the head of the project, might have to go to Japan next week."
"For how long?" Jungkook tries not to sound disappointed. He's not really upset or anything, it's just a little tinge of reality sinking down on him that Taehyung and he himself have a life, one that demands their attention more than this relationship sometimes.
"Two weeks tops, but- yeah, it's a very big deal," Taehyung says, taking a glance towards Jungkook to gauge his expression. Jungkook schools them quickly, managing a cheery voice, "That's great, congrats hyung!"
Few minutes later they're pulling into the parking lot of IKEA, and that's when it clicks to Jungkook about Taehyung's peculiar idea of taking him for furniture shopping as a date.
"Why IKEA?" He curiously asks, eyebrows shooting up to his hairline when Taehyung gives him a lopsided grin.
"Have you looked at your apartment? It's all white walls, your clinic looks better than that!" Jungkook immediately makes a face at that, a pout forming on his lips. Taehyung flicks his forehead, "My pictures are the only thing that add color to your poor excuse of a home."
"Hyung! Drop that already, I have enough decor in my apartment, thanks." He says, trying to look serious but fails because who is he kidding.
"Sure, babe. Let's go."
