edit - okay so a little clarification because a lot of people seem to disagree with me. first of all in no means i endorse cheating in a relationship but this book is written from a realistic point of view. human beings are imperfect and we make mistakes AND MISTAKES CAN BE FORGIVEN. it's true jungkook could have just broken up with tae instead of cheating on him but it's not that easy in real life. relationships are complicated, he loved tae so it was impossible for him to breakup but at the same time he felt neglected in the relationship and that with an immature age of 19 led him to make a mistake. again i tried to write this book as real as i could with what happens in real life and how complicated it is to navigate relationships. it's so easy to say here that 'oh he could have just broken up' or 'he always plays the victim card' he is not a perfect character (I MADE HIM IMPERFECT FOR A REASON), neither is taehyung and neither are we in real lives. still everyone is entitled to their own opinions so drop them here and I'll reply you as soon as i can. enjoy reading :)

The butterfly effect, the chaos theory - it is said that when a butterfly flaps its wings, it causes a hurricane. In other words, a series of small changes can make much bigger changes happen.

Isn't that what happened in their relationship? Taehyung the butterfly, loneliness the wings and Jungkook the hurricane.

Sure, Taehyung's ignorance towards Jungkook wasn't a good enough reason for him to go out and fool around. There can never be a reason for someone to cheat. But was Taehyung really faultless here?

Who fucked up? Who made a mistake? Who was hurting the most? Who hurt the most?

There are a lot of questions that can be asked along the road, but did it even matter now? Especially when they are standing at a point where it could either go right or go wrong.

That's why Taehyung cannot fall asleep, moments from Jungkook leaving the patio to now laying in the bed with Jimin cuddling him are translucent. All he can do is think.

It's now Taehyung realized that whenever Jungkook cries he cries silent, it's only tears, faint shaking of shoulders and puffed breathing. When Jungkook cries, he makes no sound. Maybe that's why he cried for days sleeping next to Taehyung, in the same bed and he never realized.

The Next day rolls around and Taehyung wakes up tired and sleep deprived. He somehow goes through his morning routine and makes it to the dining table for breakfast. Everyone is there except Jungkook.

"Where's Jungkook?" He asks. All eyes turn on him, some of them (only Yoongi's) are scary. He figures that maybe Yoongi is still mad at him but then again, Yoongi has always been extra protective when things come to Jungkook. Taehyung decides to maintain a good ten feet distance from him.

"He went for a run," Jin says, dismissing him. The entire day goes like that, Jungkook goes to visit a nearby museum with Namjoon and Hoseok, and Taehyung  stays back at the beach house. Sometime around noon he decides to get a tan, Jin and Jimin join him.

It's later in the night when Taehyung musters up all the courage and walks towards Jungkook's room.

Jungkook hears a knock on the door and mumbles, 'come in'. He's dead sure that it will be either Jin or Yoongi. The Whole day they've been trying to give him a 'talk', he knows it's only because they're worried about him but it's not really helping his situation. He tried to avoid them much like he tried to avoid Taehyung the whole day, delaying the process of confrontations. He wants to talk to Taehyung, he does, but in all honesty he is mentally tired. Also he has a magical ability to think the worst of everything so he's a little scared too.

Jungkook is sleeping on the bed with his back faced towards the door, he hears the teeny click of the door opening. He is expecting a loud boisterous noise but all he gets is silence.

Few seconds later he feels someone wrap around his back, spooning him. He jerks forward a bit but the hold is tight around his waist and it only takes nanoseconds for him to figure out who the person is. It's Taehyung. Jungkook would recognize his familiar embrace any day.

Jungkook stays put in his spot, body a little tense because he may or may not be freaking out on the inside. Taehyung nuzzles his nose in the back of his head and then pulls back a few centimeters, breath tickling Jungkook's neck.

"I'm sorry, Jungkookie. I fucked up," he says, squeezing Jungkook's waist.

As much as Jungkook is comfortable with their bodies slotting perfectly against each other, he needs to see Taehyung, look right into his pretty black eyes. Jungkook sits up, cross legged in front of Taehyung. The elder makes a noise of displeasure but quickly scrambles to sit.

"Yeah, me too," Jungkook says, reaching out to hold Taehyung's hands. He immediately secures his grip tight, slotting their hands between their touching knees.

Taehyung takes a deep breath, expression soft and comforting like a lullaby on a winter night. "I still love you, I never stopped. I can never-" he says. Jungkook can feel his hands trembling again, he holds them tight. He can count endless things that are beautiful, but Taehyung saying that he still loves Jungkook, happens to be his top favorite.

"Shh, I Know. I love you too, Tae." Jungkook says, pulling Taehyung in, so their bodies meld together. Oh, so close to each other. They both sit like that, embracing the warmth. Taehyung holds Jungkook tight with his arms around his waist. Jungkook sighs, content, resting his chin on the elders shoulder.

"So?" He hears Taehyung whisper in his ears, breath fanning over his lobe.

"So?" Jungkook asks back, he has no idea where they go from here. For one thing he is sure that whatever Taehyung decides Jungkook will agree with it.

"We can do this, we'll fix everything," Taehyung says, pulling Jungkook more towards himself, there's really no space left but you won't hear Jungkook complaining.

There are a lot of things that can go wrong, things weren't supposed to mess up like this in the first place either. Jungkook knows that they both are broken, so who will they fix first, themselves or each other?

"I'm scared," Jungkook says finally. He hears Taehyung sigh from behind him. It's like a confirmation that he knows what Jungkook is thinking.

"So am I."

"What if we fuck up again? I don't want to hurt you again, ever," Jungkook mumbles.

Taehyung hugs him close, squeezing his waist. He pulls his face behind to look into Jungkook's eyes, "Yeah me neither but I can't live like this-" he gestures to both of them, ghosting his nose over Jungkook's "-this hurts too."

"I can't let you go again, I don't care what will happen but I need to have you." Jungkook says, tearing up. From beside him he feels Taehyung's shoulders shake and his ragged breathing. Jungkook wants this to be the last time they both cry.

It's obvious that they both are scared, but love has always been a risky affair and even though Jungkook is not a pro risk taker, he believes in his and Taehyung's love. After all it was the only thing that stayed.

"What if it becomes toxic again?" Taehyung asks in a small voice.

Jungkook knows that they can't afford the toxicity and cannot mess up again. "Not if we do everything right."

"So?"

"We'll figure everything out, I'll do everything right, make it right," Jungkook says, pulling Taehyung closer and hugging him tight. He can't let go of this warmth ever again. They love each other, that should be enough. It's only the trust that needs more work on. Jungkook can do the damage control, they can build a home again.

"Yes we will," Taehyung says, agreeing. He pulls back and looks right into Jungkook's eyes. A smile tugs on both of their tear stained faces, "now, let me kiss you. please."
