Jungkook is sitting in his clinic for a ten minute break when he gets a message from Taehyung. He slides his thumb across the screen and opens his inbox.

Jungkook smiles wide when he reads the messages, his eyes catching the word 'we'. He replies to Taehyung with a lot of kissy emojis and an impromptu selfie of him sticking his tongue out.
He can't wait to see Taehyung again at night, go back and crawl in his arms and hug him tight. He thinks of planning something for the weekend. Taehyung had a rough week so maybe something that is relaxing. He makes a mental note of all the things he has to do over the weekend, meeting Jin and Yoongi being a part of it. He's about to get back to work when the door for his clinic opens and Eunha peeks her head inside.
"Do you have a minute?"
Jungkook is stunned for a few seconds, because Eunha never comes to meet him like this, she either sends some intern to pass orders or calls Jungkook in her cabin but coming to his clinic, looking so small and nervous was not something that Jungkook thought could ever happen.
"Yes sure, what happened?" He asks, concerned. Yerim immediately pops in his head - a few days ago she told him about how her and Eunha have been fighting a lot, she even said some harsh words about them calling it off. He hasn't talked to her about that since but there are negatory chances that Eunha is here for that, because Eunha for one, never talks to Jungkook (or anyone except Yerim) for more than 15 seconds.
"Can we talk?" She avoids eye contact with Jungkook, walking inside the clinic to sit on the chair across from him. Jungkook wants to pinch himself to see if this is actually happening.
"Y-yes sure" Jungkook has never been good with women, he always stutters and panics around them, especially in front of someone so intimidating like Eunha. She reminds him of his Yoongi hyung or even Taehyung when they met for the first time.
Eunha sits still like that in front of Jungkook for a few seconds, as if she's thinking of what to say and how to say it. After a while she lifts her head up and looks Jungkook directly into his eyes which makes him gulp.
She fidgets, toying with her sleeves, "Yerim left me last night."
Jungkook didn't see this coming, "What!?"
Eunha fidgets again, her eyes downcasted, "She and me - we got into a fight last night, again, but this time she left our apartment and today she told me that she is moving out."
If seeing Eunha talk to him was a surprise, seeing her cry hits Jungkook in the gut. Her eyelashes become wet and she sniffles quietly when she says that, biting on her lip hard. She doesn't show any emotions after that, stays still in her spots, quiet, waiting for Jungkook to take in her words.
Jungkook desperately searches for them, "Yerim can't do that, she loves you. I'm s-sure she'll come around."
Eunhs stays still in her spot, breathing heavily. She looks at Jungkook and shakes her head. Jungkook has seen Yerim and Eunha. He has always rooted for them just like he did for Yoongi and Jin. Love like theirs blossomed in front of Jungkook, and when one is moving towards a marriage while the other is breaking apart, it makes Jungkook question about what's true and what's not.
Seeing Someone like Eunha - who never shows a trace of emotion, cry in front of him, makes Jungkook angry.
"She's gone, left. I did this to us. What will I do now?" She asks this more to herself than to Jungkook.
"And I'm sure you both can fix it again." He tries again, he wants to reach out and hold her hands, give some comfort.
Eunha doesn't speak anything for a while and then looks up again, "How did you do it? How did you get him back?"
It doesn't take long for Jungkook to figure out that she is talking about Taehyung, "You know?"
"Yerim tells - told me everything," she mutters.
"I was at fault, I apologized, told him how much he means to me. I do it everyday, and value the second chance he gave me."
Eunha stares at Jungkook in a way that he thinks she can see right through his soul, maybe she does because she hums in approval.
"I can't lose her, I just I- I don't know what to do."
"I think you both should take a break, a few days maybe." Upon listing that, Eunha makes a noise of disapproval before she can oppose, Jungkook speaks again, "what good are you both right now? You give her some time, sometimes we only realize the value of people when we have lost them. I know, I spent four years away from Taehyung, but everyday I lived without him made me realize how much I wanted him in my life. I know how my life was without him and that's why I'd do everything to make him stay this time."
Jungkook knows that he and Taehyung are not Eunha and Yerim, they're different people, different situations, different lives but he can't help thinking about Taehyung and how absolutely broken Jungkook will be if he were to lose Taehyung again.
"Okay, I'll keep that in mind," Eunha says, getting up from the chair. She moves her hands on her skirt to smoothen the creases, giving Jungkook a tight lipped smile before she leaves his clinic.
Jungkook makes another mental note of checking up on Yerim this weekend.
His break ends like that, and the day gets busy, pets after pets for their routine checkups. It's in the evening when Jungkook is taking some last patients for the day when someone knocks up on his door. Jungkook expects them to be someone regular with their pet and they're just not someone Jungkook expected to ever see again.
"Minsun?"
