Double update 'cos why not ;)
When Jungkook and Taehyung came back from the market, just in time for the sunset, they walked to the beach house to keep the gift bags down on the porch.
Jungkook turned around to look at Taehyung, the elder is walking backwards, a smirk on his lips. Jungkook stares at him confused as Taehyung takes more steps backwards, "Whoever will reach the shore first will win a pizza treat!" Taehyung rapidly says, turning around to run.
Jungkook doesn't take long to follow, if anything he has fast reflexes and he is definitely competitive. He runs behind Taehyung, both of them giggling.
Taehyung cranes his neck back to see Jungkook and screeches when he sees the younger catching up, he tries to pick up more speed but Jungkook beats him to it, running past Taehyung. There are not a lot of people around, making their laughs resonate around them.
Just when Jungkook is about to reach the shore, he feels Taehyung tug at his T-shirt from behind, pulling him back. Jungkook squeaks as his weight shifts backwards, he stumbles behind, quickly regaining his balance to push forward. Taehyung doesn't give up, he brings his other free hand and wraps it around Jungkook's torso, pulling him back. They try to tug and pull, Jungkook turns around to free his T-shirt from Taehyung's grasp, which turns out to be a mistake. Taehyung pulls him in and their chest collide, breathing the same air, oh, so close to each other.
Jungkook's breath hitches when Taehyung locks his hands around Jungkook's waist. He takes a glance into Taehyung's beautiful honey brown eyes just to see them staring back. A faint red hue adores Jungkook's cheeks at their close proximity. Taehyung looks like he is trapped in some trance, leaning in and in, until their lips ghost over each, so close--
Taehyung and Jungkook snap out of it when they hear commotion around them, quickly springing away in opposite directions. It's their hungs, thankfully they didn't see Jungkook and Taehyung, too busy in their own arguments. He takes one glance at Taehyung to see the elder flustered, looking away.
What did just happen? Was Taehyung going to kiss him? Was he going to kiss Taehyung?
The rest of the boys join them and they all bathe in the calm of the setting sun, the sky, the sea-all in the pretty colors of red and orange, so beautiful, so aesthetic, so picturesque. Jungkook pulls out his camera to snap a picture but it looks incomplete, at least for Jungkook.
He shifts his camera a tad bit to the side to capture his hyungs, all six of them, hands slinging around each other's shoulders, laughing at something Hoseok said. The shutter snaps, with a silhouette of them in the frame. Jungkook smiles at the picture, content and happy, clinging to all the maybes hoping they'll turn affirmative.
Later they all go back to the beach house, all tired and ready to eat, drink and pass out. "Me and Yoongi are very tired to walk to some restaurant, how bout' we order in?" Jin asks, sitting beside a very sleepy Yoongi on the couch. Yoongi immediately curls around Jin, head resting on his chest.
"Hm, good idea." Yoongi mutters from beside him.
"Yeah, I don't think Jimin can walk, so let's order!" Hoseok says, a smug look on his face. Jimin elbows him in ribs, blushing. They all sit around the couch, chatting, bickering over what to order.
When they came back, Jungkook thought things would get awkward between him and Taehyung, and that the elder would distance himself. That's not what is happening though, Taehyung, if anything has become more clingy, always staying close to Jungkook, fingers ever so gently brushing, staring a little longer. Right now too, they're sitting together, cramped on the small sofa, Taehyung is leaning on Jungkook's side.
It makes Jungkook's heart thud, knowing Taehyung is craving him as much as Jungkook is.
However, the warmth doesn't stay for long because he hears Jin calling him from the kitchen, "Kook, can you help Namjoon with the fireplace, it's getting cold in here."
"Yes, coming," Jungkook says, getting up, Taehyung pouts when he sees Jungkook getting up but doesn't say anything. He tosses his phone on the couch and walks away to help Namjoon.
Taehyung sits there alone, curled in the blanket, smiling to himself. Maybe Jungkook is back for better, maybe he is genuinely sorry and wants Taehyung back. Maybe he should forgive Jungkook.
Taehyung hears a buzzing of the phone from beside him. It's Jungkook's, so he ignores it. The phone vibrates with a call, one, twice and then stops. It starts buzzing again, this time with message tones.
Taehyung furrows his eyebrows, searching for the phone, thinking that he'll go and return it to Jungkook, this way he can be close to him again. He dabs around the blanket to retrieve the phone, messages pop up on the screen and Taehyung knows he shouldn't read them but he can't help it.
Yerim 💕
Jungkook-ah
i miss you
Come overTaehyung stares at the screen dumbfounded, what? Taehyung knows Yerim, he has seen her in the clinic often hanging around Jungkook. Taehyung wasn't jealous or anything, even if he was he'd always shove that thought thinking Yerim is just a coworker. And, boy was Taehyung wrong.
He thought Jungkook was back as a better person and that maybe Jungkook deserves a second chance.
Taehyung's hopes are like a falling star, he thought it was beautiful, he thought his Jungkook was back. Except it wasn't, the star is crashing, burning, just like his heart.
All the years of hurt, betrayal, pain, panic, doubt and what not flash in front of Taehyung's eyes. He doesn't want to be the one hurting, he wants to be the one who hurts. He can't let Jungkook hurt him more than he already did, he just cannot.
