4. life goes on

Four Years later,

Jungkook slowly hummed to the song that was playing in his earpods as he made his way from aisle to aisle, having his own little time shopping for things he never really needed.

It has been three months since he has been back home but he still couldn't wrap around his feelings. Still feeling like a stranger in his own country but nonetheless, it was good to be back home. He missed home.

When he left his and Taehyung's apartment that night and went to Jin and Yoongi's apartment, he honestly had no idea what he was ever going to do. His internship at the Animal care center that he took for extra credits was ending soon and without the stipend, he'd never be able to pay for an apartment, not that the pay was enough but still. However, Jin and Yoongi are best the hyungs in the world and they offered for Jungkook to stay with them. Yoongi even slipped a threat that if Jungkook doesn't agree to live with them then he'll have to kidnap him and Jungkook never in his life wanted to face a kidnapper Yoongi.

There were only 3 months left until Jungkook's year-end exams and then finally graduation so Jungkook agreed. He offered to pay rent but Jin sternly told him no, saying that 'jungkook's hyungs had jobs and they don't mind doing charity for their little kookie' Jungkook had made a face at that, but didn't argue further and decided to just help them in groceries.

When Jungkook graduated he was already packing his bags For America. Thankfully (just for Jungkook) his and Taehyung's branch were attending a separate graduation ceremony so he didn't even have to face him. His hyungs attended his graduation (except taehyung and Jimin) and two days later jungkook was leaving for America, he had got a job as a assistant under a Veterinarian there and the pay was good plus Jungkook just wanted some change so he gladly accepted the offer.

Jin and Hoseok had cried a river that day, when he left but Jungkook only had Taehyung in mind, some selfish part in him wanted this whole ordeal to turn into some movie so Taehyung would come rushing towards him and stop him from going and then they would live happily ever efter but that didn't happen (fucking universe and it's rules). Taehyung didn't come and Jungkook left for America.

He stayed in America for 3 years then, falling into a monotonous job life. He even went to wildlife reserves with the head doctor to extend his capabilities.

But still every week tge was same and he was starting to feel homesick. The only vacation that Jungkook took was going to states one time during Christmas to spend the festival with Namjoon, who'd been living there working on his own book.

When Jungkook came back from Namjoon's, he felt even more homesick. He missed Seoul, he missed Busan, his friends, his parents and well he missed Taehyung. Even though Jungkook wasn't sure that he was allowed to miss Taehyung but then again it waw his own feelings so maybe he could miss Taehyung, also not missing him was next to impossible for Jungkook, it's not like he didn't try. He tried but always failed.

It was as if the demon of cheating on Taehyung and breaking his heart had stuck up with Jungkook like his own fucking shadow, dark and permanent. And in all honesty Jungkook had learned to live with it in these past years, not that he would ever be able to forget the last look that Taehyung's tear stained face had given him when he slammed the door in Jungkook's face, it will remain with Jungkook like a plague for the rest of his life.

Jungkook is feeling homesick and that's why his fingers are sweaty as he files his application to one animal clinic in Seoul. It's a big one and he is pretty much sure that he'll get accepted, he has knowledge and expertise for it but that's not why he is anxious. The anxiety comes from meeting his friends, especially Jimin. Jimin was mad like mad mad at Jungkook and an apology was already on his tip of tongue but Jimin was always scary when he was angry and Jimin was scarier when it was related to Taehyung so Jungkook kept his mouth shut.

Jungkook knows that going back to Korea ment that he'll have to face Jimin and at some point he'll also have to face Taehyung, he's just not sure that he is ready for it yet.

Jungkook is in Seoul now, in fact three months since he came back. He so far has only met with Jin and Yoongi and had a short conversation with Hoseok on phone (he wants to go and visit Hoseok but Jimin and Hoseok are now dating and living together and Jungkook fears his life in case Jimin saw him so he settles for a phone call).

As much as Jungkook wants to not face the wrath called Jimin and his love of life Taehyung, he knows that he has no option. Jin's birthday is in a few weeks and Jungkook knows that he'll have meet all his friends then (if the universe doesn't decide to play some sick coincidence). Jungkook isn't prepared for it but he knows that when the day will come he'll have no option.
