Yeosang hadn't slipped all day, he and his boyfriend were busy cleaning the house and doing chores today. The two spent around two hours cleaning what little mess they had made and were now at the store, grocery shopping.
And Yeosang felt like slipping.
It didn't help that it was the little's nap time, so he was getting a bit cranky. "Where's the milk?" Jongho asked under his breath, looking around at the signs. The milk, Yeosang thought, wouldn't be in the canned food aisle. But Jongho doesn't go grocery shopping enough to know where everything is like Yeosang, who was trying to let him figure it out himself.
The smaller finally got fed up when Jongho passed right by the milk without noticing. "Jongho!" Yeosang called, frustrated. The younger turned around to a moody Yeosang pointing at the milk. "Oh! There it is!" Jongho said, pulling out a jug. Now, Jongho had taken notice of Yeosang's crankiness long ago. He hasn't said anything because, if he does, his lover will only deny it and become even crankier.
Yeosang sighed, they still had about five things on their list to get and he was tired. "How much longer?" he asked, trying his hardest not to whine. Jongho smiled at him, ruffling his hair and chuckling. "I don't think we'll be much longer. Why?" The little pouted, tapping his wrist. Jongho caught the hint and checked the time, eyes widening.
"Don't worry, we only have to find the cereal, and then we're done!" the younger said, setting a package of bottled water on the bottom of their cart. Yeosang thought he could hold on, but by the time they reached the cereal, he was almost in his headspace. "Wanna go home..." he said quietly, catching Jongho's attention. "I know pumpkin, we're almost done." Yeosang huffed, crossing his arms.
Jongho could sense an attitude coming on, so he walked quickly to the check-out line. "Home," Yeosang said, stopping in the middle of an aisle. Jongho looked around, making sure that if Yeosang made a scene no one would be staring. "We're gonna go home in a minute, we just have to check out." the caregiver reasoned, his voice steady and gentle. "No, we go now!" Yeosang said while raising his voice slightly.
"Don't raise your voice at me, that's not very nice," Jongho said sternly. A flash of uncertainty ran across Yeosang's face, but it was gone as soon as it came. "Home!" It seemed nothing was going to change the little's mind, at least, that is always the case when he gets like this.
"Do you want to wait in the car? I'm buying these groceries regardless. And if you don't fix that attitude, you're getting a time out and two days without TV." Jongho knew that ultimatums hardly work, but he had to give Yeosang a chance. The little groaned loudly, stomping his foot. "This is your last chance." Jongho looked a stubborn Yeosang in the eyes, raising an eyebrow.
Yeosang sat down.
Jongho sighed, knowing what he had to do. This situation had happened before, the only way to get Yeosang off the floor was not something the caregiver wanted to do. Putting his hands on the cart, Jongho started walking. He walked right past his little and to the end of the aisle. By the time he'd gotten to the next aisle, a hand on his shirt stopped him.
"Are you finished?" Turning around, Jongho was now facing a teary-eyed Yeosang. The little nodded, holding out his arms. Jongho wrapped his arms around his little, staying silent for a second. "You know I'd never leave you pumpkin. I just did that so you would get up," Jongho explained, although Yeosang already knew. Jongho hated doing that, but he'd tried bribing, reasoning, punishing, everything he could think of and it never works.
"I sorry," Yeosang whispered into his caregiver's shirt. "I know sweetheart, let's check out and go home. We'll discuss your punishment in the car." Yeosang nodded, pulling away and grabbing onto Jongho's hand. The two checked out and loaded the car with no further complaints or raised voices, and were now on their way home. "When we get home, I'm gonna put you down for a nap while I deal with groceries, okay? It's only a little bit past nap time, so you'll be fine if you take one. Plus, you can sleep away the grumpies!" Jongho explained, glancing at Yeosang. "Okay... What 'bout the punishies?" Jongho hummed, thinking. "How about five minutes in the corner and two days without TV? That's what I said in the store pumpkin, remember?"
When they got home, Yeosang helped Jongho unload the groceries before going and laying down. It took Jongho all of ten minutes to put away groceries, the caregiver sitting on the couch on his phone for another twenty.
A five minute time out later and the two were on the couch cuddling. "I really is sorry bubby..." Yeosang said abruptly. Jongho smiled, placing a kiss on his little's head. "I know, pumpkin. I forgive you. Now, let's go make dinner!"
