Felix doesn't usually get nervous because of concerts, that's just a fact. He gets nervous about watching scary movies, making milkshakes, being an idol, and his little space. Not because of concerts. He enjoys the rush of adrenaline he gets to perform. He has an amazing time interacting with fans and hearing the roar of the crowds.
So why was he so scared this time around?"C'mon guys, let's move!" Chan called from the front door. One by one, the others came out of their rooms dressed in comfortable, yet stylish clothes, some holding bags. "Time to go!" The eight boys all piled into the van, buckling in and waiting. As soon as everyone was set, the van took off.
Now that they were on the way to the concert venue, Felix could feel his nerves rising. He hardly noticed when he started chewing on his nails. The part of him that noticed didn't care, but Chan did. "Lix, you're chewing on your nails," he said. Felix took his hand away from his mouth, biting back a huff. "Are you alright?"
Nodding a bit too enthusiastically at his caregiver, causing Chan to narrow his eyes, Felix forced a smile. "I'm okay," he said, uncertainty lacing his words. "You don't sound okay, are you sure?" Chan asked once more. Felix sighed, knowing lying wasn't gonna help. "I'm sure it's nothing," the little said quietly.
Chan, who was sitting in the seat next to Felix, turned to his little one and grabbed one of his hands. "What is it?" Felix frowned, caving. "I'm just a bit nervous is all," he said, confusing Chan. "You're never nervous Lix... What's up?" The little shrugged, just as confused as his caregiver. "Will you be okay? You won't forget the dances?"
Felix shook his head. "I won't forget the dances... I'm more worried about forgetting my lines," he said. Chan nodded as they pulled into a parking space. "I'll go over your lines with you after soundcheck, okay?" It was Felix's turn to nod, the little gathering his things and getting out of the car.The soundcheck went by without any major problems, the eight boys now in the waiting room getting ready. "We're so happy to be here tonight in- in..." Felix sighed. "In Incheon, Lix." That was the third time that he'd forgotten where they were while going over his lines, even with Chan reminding him.
"I'll get it, I promise." Felix looked at Chan through the mirror he was facing, both of their expressions uncertain. "Keep going over the lines, I have to go get ready," Chan said after one of the makeup women called him over. "Okay..." Felix whispered, re-reading his lines over and over.
The poor Little could hardly focus because of all the commotion. Everyone was excited about the concert, loud chatter filling the room. "Incheon... Incheon... Incheon..." "Yes, Felix, we're in Incheon," Hyunjin said playfully, leading Felix to realize he'd been mumbling a bit too loud. "Sorry," he said, a sheepish smile on his red face.
It felt like only five minutes passed before they heard the excited screams and yells of the fans as they entered the venue. Felix's nerves were suddenly shot, nausea building in his stomach. "Lix, you alright? You look a little pale!" Seungmin said as he laced up his shoes. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a bit of nerve, you know?"
Seungmin nodded, walking off to have final touches done to his hair. "Five minutes!" someone called from the doorway. Felix tried to look as normal as possible for the sake of himself more than anyone. "Incheon. Incheon. Incheon," he whispered to himself as he went to stand by the door with the others.
After Chan made a little speech and they did the huddle thing that they always do, it was time to go on stage. The lights went out, the fans started screaming, and the members of Stray Kids took their places. The rush of the impending performance had Felix forgetting all about his worries.
As the booming music filled the venue Felix started moving. It was as if his mind was clear, his body moving on its own. He let the music dull his senses as he focused only on the way he felt at that moment. He felt a sense of something he couldn't quite put his finger on. And then it hit him. He felt free. When the music came to an end, Felix wore a smile from ear to ear.Almost the whole concert went by without any hiccups. Some more cheers and it was time for Felix to speak. "We're so happy to have been here tonight in Incheon!" Looking out into the screaming crowd, the smile on his face slowly fell as he tried to remember what he was supposed to say.
Felix had spent so much time trying to remember that one line, that he forgot to go over what was next. He then looked to his members, who were worried expressions on their faces at his lack of dialogue. Panic became too overwhelming, the little rushing to get off the stage and away from all of the eyes that followed him.
Felix rushed past the numerous stylists and stagehands, trying his hardest to get somewhere safe. Once he was back in the waiting room, the tears fell. Quiet sobs and muffled screams were the only things heard in the room. A couple of minutes passed before the little heard a knock at the door.
"Lix?"
Upon hearing the voice of his caregiver, Felix finally slipped. "Bubba!" he called, Chan immediately opening the door and making his way over. "Hey Lixie, Bubba's here." The caregiver wrapped his little up in a tight hug and whispered reassuring words to him. The constant reassurance and the hug slowly but surely calmed the latter down.
"I love you Bubbas," Felix said quietly. Chan mirrored the soft smile on his little's face. "I love you too Lixie," he said, rubbing their noses together. Felix giggled, now fully calmed down. And even though they could hear the concert going on without them, the two sat there and soaked in each other's presence.
