About a month passed, and Changkyun had reverted back to some of his old ways. He only slips when Jooheon is around and he keeps things bottled up until they explode. This often results in the little crying.
This is not because Changkyun has lost any trust in his friends, no, in fact, he hasn't lost any trust in them at all. This has to do with the things she said. Changkyun's ex had said a lot of hurtful things, but it hurt, even more, knowing what little trust he had, he'd put in her.
But, a rainbow comes after a storm, right?
Changkyun had started noticing small changes in his own behavior. It started with his little self. He'd become especially clingy toward Jooheon, going wherever the older went, sitting with him and cuddling more often, not being able to slip unless he's there. And then it started trickling into his big self. When he wasn't at work or busy, Changkyun was with Jooheon.
Most of the time, the whole group was there, but, even when they weren't, you were most likely to find Jooheon at Changkyun's place or vice versa. The younger noticed his feelings toward Jooheon changed too, and that terrified him. He felt the same as he'd felt with his ex, only stronger. He felt it so much stronger.
Changkyun was scared. He was so scared of feeling that way again, but he couldn't help it. Everything Jooheon did was gentle and filled with love, only causing Changkyun's feelings to grow. The ravenette couldn't help himself from cuddling Jooheon, from following him around.
From loving him.Despite the cliche, Jooheon noticed Changkyun's changes. He noticed everything. Like right now, Jooheon had gotten up to make dinner for him and his friends and Changkyun had dropped everything but his bear and followed him. "Pumpkin, you can stay and color, you don't have to keep me company. I'm just gonna be in the kitchen," Jooheon said to his little. Changkyun shook his head, reaching out and making grabby hands.
"Okay, Kyunnie." The caregiver picked up Changkyun, carrying him to the kitchen and setting him on the counter. Instead of starting dinner, Jooheon stood between Changkyun's legs, placing a hand on either side of him on the counter. "What's up?" The little tilted his head, confused. "Why won't you be around the others while you're little?"
Changkyun frowned, hugging his bear tight against his chest. "I scared..." he whispered. Jooheon nodded, asking, "Scared of what, pumpkin?" The little's frown deepened as he thought of how to say what he wanted. "I scared 'cause of- of the lady... Said I'm burden so- so I scared they think I burden too..."
Jooheon smiled softly, pulling Changkyun's head to his shoulder, hugging the younger. "It's very scary to think that way, huh? But I promise you, none of us think you're a burden. You gotta try and trust us, remember? It's hard, I know, so you take your time, okay? I'll remind you as many times as you need me to." Changkyun nodded into his caregiver's shoulder with a small, "Okay."After dinner, the others left gradually until only Changkyun was left at Jooheon's house. Jooheon, thinking the timing was right, decided to talk to Changkyun about their feelings. "Hey, Kyun?" he called. Changkyun, who was no longer in little space, looked up from his phone. "Yeah? What's up?"
Jooheon walked over to where Changkyun was sitting on the couch, sitting next to him. "I need to talk to you about something serious," he said, gaining the ravenette's full attention. "Okay... What is it?" the younger asked uncertainly. "It's nothing bad! It's just hard to talk about..." Taking notice of Jooheon's hesitation, Changkyun reached out and took hold of his hand.
"You can tell me anything."
Jooheon took a deep breath, not quite believing this was about to happen. "I love you. Not in the way that's friends love other friends, but a different way, you know?" Changkyun looked conflicted at the confession, never letting go of Jooheon's hand. "And I can tell you have some feelings for me too... Will you be my boyfriend?"
Changkyun's eyes teared up as he spoke. "It's not like I don't love you too, it's just- Well I'm scared. I'm absolutely terrified that I'll do something and you'll leave me too. You're one of the best things in my life, Jooheon. I can't lose you." Jooheon smiled gently, squeezing Changkyun's hand. "And you won't. There's nothing you've done or could do that would make me love you any less. I won't leave you. You've gotta trust me on this one."
Changkyun's eyes studied Jooheon's face, the younger eventually leaning in to place a soft kiss on the other's cheek. "Yes," he said after a comfortable silence. "If it wasn't already obvious, my answer is yes."
