Sejun was searching for Hoshi, trying to look anywhere and everywhere before Hanse woke up from his nap. Subin was searching too, the two trying their hardest to find the misplaced stuffie. "Sejun, anything?" Subin called from the kitchen. "Nothing," Sejun called back, putting the couch cushions back in place.
Hanse had been crying for hours because he woke up and his stuffie was gone. His caregivers had finally gotten him to take a nap, using that time wisely.
A faint whine cut through the silence of their search, making the two caregivers look at each other with wide eyes. "What time is it?!" Subin whisper-yelled, Subin checking the time with wide eyes and whisper-yelling back, "One thirty!"
The quiet padding of feet was heard coming down the hall, both men in the living room tensing up. "Junnie... Binnie..." The two turned around, catching sight of a tired Hanse rubbing his eyes with a fisted hand. "Darling, we've talked about that," Subin said. "You might hurt your eyes." Hanse has a bad habit, big or little, of rubbing his eyes too hard when he wakes up. Subin made his way over, gently running the pads of his thumbs under Hanse's eyes.
"Where's Hoshi?" His caregivers froze, the dreaded question finally asked. "Well, we don't know yet..." Sejun said, bringing tears to the little's eyes. "But we'll find him!" he hastily added to no avail. Tears ran down Hanse's face as he thought of how alone Hoshi must feel. "We have to find Hoshi!" he wailed. "He's all alone! He gotta be scared!" Subin pulled Hanse to the couch, sitting down and wrapping his arms around the little. "We will, but first we need to calm you down."
Hanse continued to cry for another thirty minutes before calming down, his caregivers never leaving his side. "Right. Now here's the mission, private Hanse!" Sejun suddenly said, catching their little's attention. "We have to search high and low, near and far! We have to search every nook and cranny of this battlefield for private Hoshi! He's surviving for now, but we have to help!"
The little giggled quietly, nodding his head. "Yes, mister general sir!" The three set off to find the lost tiger, searching everywhere including the places they'd looked at already. But, when another half-hour passed and there was still no sign of Hoshi, Hanse began losing hope.
"Don't you quit on me, private Hanse! We still have to check one last place!" Subin playfully said, pointing to the playroom door. Hanse's eyes lit up ever so slightly as he realized there were still places to look. "C'mon!" he shouted, opening the door and going in. Subin and Sejun followed closely behind, satisfied that the room wasn't very messy. "Let's start looking!"
The playroom was the only place they hadn't searched yet, so Hoshi had to be there. "Private!" came a sudden shout, causing both Hanse and Sejun to jump. "Our mission is complete!" Subin was holding the stuffed tiger, a triumphant look on his face. "Hoshi!" Hanse squealed, grabbing the stuffie and burying his face in it."Does Hoshi have to eat dinner with us?" Sejun asked, earning himself a glare from Hanse. "Sorry, sorry... He can stay," the caregiver said, hands up in surrender. After the day's scare, Hanse had taken Hoshi everywhere with him. Even when he moved from the couch to the floor, Hoshi went with.
When the trio was done eating, Hanse excused himself to go color while his caregivers played rock, paper, scissors to see who would do the dishes. "Hah!" Subin exclaimed, slapping his hand over Sejun's fist. Sejun groaned, slumping over and stalking to the sink. Subin smiled triumphantly, walking to the living room with his head held high.
"You really love Hoshi, don't you darling?" Hanse looked up from his coloring page, smiling brightly. "Yes! He my favoritest! I love him this much!" the little said, arms opened wide for emphasis. Subin smiled, watching Hanse go back to his coloring.
Sejun came into the living room shortly after Subin's question, flopping down on the couch dramatically. "My arms are gonna fall off!" he whined, shaking his arms in the air. "Look at them! They're gonna fall off while I'm sleeping!" Subin rolled his eyes playfully. "Quit your whining, you washed three plates and three forks," he told the other.
"Hanse, babe, you get where I'm coming from, right?" Hanse turned around, confused. "What're we talkin' 'bout?" he asked innocently. "We're talking about how hard it is to do dishes. It's hard, right?" Sejun's eyes were hopeful, hope dying when Hanse giggled and said, "No! I get help, but i's not hard!"
Sejun groaned, his hope for backup gone. "Fine, I'm just being dramatic. Let me be the drama queen I was always meant to be!" he exclaimed. Subin and Hanse both laughed, Hanse for the sole reason of he wanted to.
The little had no idea what Sejun was talking about. When Hanse finally finished his drawing, he felt proud. On a blank piece of paper, he had messily drawn a large tiger, coloring it to match Hoshi, and added some hearts. "Binnie! Junnie! Look what I made!" he called, pulling his caregivers' attention away from the TV. "Wow! That's lovely, darling!" Subin praised. "It's great, babe!"
Hanse blushed deeply, handing the paper to Sejun. "Thank you! We please put it on the fridge?" he asked politely. "Of course!" Hanse beamed as he followed his caregivers to the fridge. Subin pulled out some spare magnets, letting their little choose which one he wanted, and put the picture up.
Taking one last look at the drawing-covered fridge, the trio walked back to the living room. "What do you wanna do now?" Subin asked Hanse. The little thought for a second before timidly asking, "Watch Steven? And we cuddle?" Both caregivers nodded in satisfaction, Subin sitting on the couch and grabbing the remote. "Let's do that!" Sejun said, pulling Hanse down onto the couch.
And they did exactly that.
