THOMAS’ POV

It’s three in the morning. Thomas wakes up with tears in his eyes. He looks at the photo frame beside his bed.

 

Hey Sef. You know what? It’s been two years. Two years since I last saw you. Two years since you’ve left us. Two years dreaming about you almost every day. Two years wishing you were still here. Two years saying I’m okay already in front of others even if I’m not. Two years waking up wishing I didn’t.

Thomas stands up and walks through his closet. He checked his phone and saw a message from Mika

 

From: Mika

Hey Thom. Wag kang malalate bukas. 8 a.m. sa tapat ng La Salle. Kim also texted na isa na lang daw dalhin nating sasakyan para di hassle. Text me if gusto mo car mo or magdala na lang ako. See you tomorrow.

Sef, I never knew na magiging close ako sa best friends mo. (smiles) Well, maybe because we share the same feelings when it comes to you. The same guilt when we all left you behind alone. But no worries, they also tried to get their life back. They’re both professional volleyball players na. Also, Mika is now dating Kiefer. Can you believe it? Back then gusto ka nya pero ngayon they have been dating for six months na. As for Kim, she’s still with Mela. They are going strong even maraming against sa relationship nila.  Seeing them happy, I wish I had their strength back then para ipaglaban yung atin. (tears run through Thomas’ face) Para di kita nasaktan.

Thomas left his phone in his bed and went out of his room to drink water.

 

MAID: Good Morning Sir! May kailangan po kayo?

THOMAS: No ate wala. Sabi ko naman sa’yo di mo na kailangan gumising ng ganito kaaga para lang sa akin.

MAID: Nako Sir di po pwede. Pinagbilin po kayo sa akin ni ma’am Ara. Wag daw po kayong pababayaan.

THOMAS:  (smiles) Okay lang ako ate. Salamat. Pero wag ka ng gumising ng ganito kaaga. Umiinom lang naman ako ng tubig ng ganitong oras tapos tutulog lang ulit.

MAID: Okay lang sir. Maaga naman ako nakakatulog. Kayo nga po late na tapos gigising kayo ng ganito kaaga pero di na kayo nakakatulog pagkatapos. (inabot ang tubig)

THOMAS: Hindi na rin kasi ako makatulog pagkatapos. Pero sige na ate akyat na din ako. (uminom ng tubig)

MAID: Sir kaya nyo po yan. Magiging okay din po kayo. Sige po.

THOMAS: Salamat.

Thomas lies down in his bed.

 

Kahit wala ka na ramdam ko pa rin pag-aalala mo sa akin. (starts crying) I don’t know why pero yung body ko kusa na lang nagigising during this time of the day. Maybe because this is the time you left us. This is the time I realized how stupid I am for hurting you. Gustuhin ko man na matulog na lang since doon I still can see you but my body can’t. Tell me. Sef paano ba? Paano ba na makita kita ng hindi sa panaginip lang. Kahit di na ako yung gusto mo, okay lang. Yung buhay ka lang okay na. Kahit ako na lang yung magmahal sa’yo. I can give up everything. Everything. Just come back. Come back to us.

Thomas picks up his phone in his bed and texted Mika

 

To: Mika

Hey Miks. I’ll just bring my car. See you.

Toot toot…

 

From: Mika

Nagising ka no? I’m talking with Kim sa skype. Nagising din sya. Eto yung oras na iniwan niya tayo noh. Ang sakit pa rin pala Thomas. Akala ko okay na. Na after 2 years makakayanan ko ng pumunta ng nakasmile. Pero ang hirap pa rin pala.

To: Mika

I know Miks. It feels just like yesterday. Yung nagsmismile pa siya. Yung nagjojogging pa siya tuwing umaga. Yung nag-aaral pa sya. Yung nagvovolleyball pa sya. Yung andyan pa siya para sa atin. Let’s talk tomorrow. Tulog ka na ulit Miks. Maaga pa tayo bukas. Pasabi na lang din kay Kim.

Toot toot…

 

From: Mika

Ikaw din pahinga ka na. Salamat. See you.

Thomas got up in his bed and put his phone on the table. He picks the photo frame and lied down again hugging the photo frame.

 

I never got over you. You’re still the one. The one who can make me feel incredibly happy. The one who can make my heart beats fast. Up until now, I can still see you whenever I close my eyes. I can still smell your scent in this room. I still can hear your voice, your laughs. (crying) I miss you so much Ara. I love you so much.
