Hailey's POV
I am finally cleared for duty and I feel great. I am so glad to be off bed rest and knowing I get to go back to work. Having Jay take care of me was really the only part I enjoyed being off for, I don't think I would have survived if it wasn't for him. But having him here made me love him even more and I just don't know what to do with it. I said I never date people I work with but Jay he's different, he's not like every guy.

I was taken out my thoughts of jay when I heard a knock at the door, I finished putting on my top and I quickly headed down stairs to the door. As soon as I opened the door I seen the blinding smile of Jays, the sun was shining bright behind him but still all his features were clear. "Morning" I smile "morning, you ready to be back at work?" He asks happily as I let him in, "very" I say. "Well I am glad to have you back, I missed you"he says sweetly "aww well I missed you too" I chuckle back as I start to get my jacket and shoes on.

We were in jays truck on our way to the district when we heard "can anyone respond to house attack 245 avenue" over the radio, I look at Jay and he nods while turning on his lights, "copy that dispatch two plain clothed officers are on the way" I reply as we speed down the block to the house.

When we arrive i see that it is a fancy house and the door was all smashed in. As we both draw out guns we spot a male tuning out the back and through the garden, "Hailey clear the house I got him" Jay says as he starts to chase after the tall man. I open the gate and walk in the house slowly and I start to clear the house. When I made it to the huge living room I see a woman who is laying on the floor, look like she had been beaten to death. I slowly crouch down and feel for a pulse but there wasn't one there and as I was about to grab my radio I hear a noise from the cabinet in the corner.

I stand up and have my gun ready to pull out, I slowly walk towards the cabinet and I place my hand on the handle and open it. "AHHH" this little girl cries as she covers her face "hey, hey it's okay, your safe" I say as I raise my hands "I am the police okay sweetie don't be afraid" I say calmly and she just jumps out and crawls into my arms. As she cries in my arms I hold her tight trying to calm her down as best I can, "what your name honey?" I ask "Lilly" she says quietly "do you know who broke into your house?" I ask "I-t was daddy" she cried out in terror and it just breaks my heart.

"Shhhh you okay, your okay now" I say as I pick her up and take her outside to see Jay running up the street. "He got away! What's going on?" He asks as he looks concerned as I hold a child in my arms "call it in" I mouth as he walks over to the gate and calls it in.

10 minutes later

When everyone arrives to the scene I sit in the back of the ambulance as the paramedics check Lilly out. I see the team all in a huddle at the side of the house and I tell the paramedics I will be back in a minute, I head over the unit but I can tell they go quite when I arrive. "What we got?" I ask as I look at everyone "well it looks like a break in-" "no the little girl said it was her Dad, she says he'd always hit the mum and she was always told to hide in the cupboard" I say. They all nod and we all look over to voight "well let's get back to the district and start our case" he orders. "Sarge I am gonna go with the girl to med and wait for DSF to come and take her" I say as I head back over to Lilly.

As we say in the back of the ambulance I try to ask her some questions to see if it could help us. "So Lilly do you mind if I ask you some questions?" She nod and looks up at me "has this happened before?" I ask "yeah daddy moved out ages ago but he still comes inside when ever he wants. I thought that it would be nice to see him but mommy gets scared and tells me to hide until she comes to get me" she says scared "I don't want daddy to hurt me" she cries. "Hey Lilly I won't let that happen, I promise" I say. "I want my mommy, where's mommy" she cries again. My heart sank, I know this is part of the job but I never imagined that I had to be the one to tell a little six year old girl that her mom had died at the hands of her own dad.
