Chapter 20: I love her

Will's POV
I was working on Hailey and I seen my little brother behind me watching in horror, i was really worried that Hailey wasn't going to survive this because the stab wound was bad. I was suddenly taken back to reality when I heard Hailey's machines start to beep. "Dr Halstead her SATs and BPs are dropping fast" April shouts " get her some blood now! And head to the OR!" I shout as they run out of the room with Hailey.

I wait a second before I turn to Jay to see his eyes filling with tears "let's me check you over" i say "no!" He refuses "Jay! Hey! Look at me she is in surgery now, there is nothing we can do but wait. So let me stitch you up" I say as I pull him into another room. I sit him on a bed and start to stitch up the hash at the back of his head. "What the hell happened?" I ask "we were taken" he says and I freeze "what! For how long?" I ask "last night I think" he says unsure. "Well did you get the guy?" I ask "yeah I got him a fated he stabbed Hailey" he says as he looks down at his hands which have her blood on them. "The bastard tied me to a pipe and made me watch him hurt her" he says and I can tell he is crying by tone. "You guys dating yet?" I ask and he nods "finally" I chuckle and so does he.

"She's going to be okay, right?" He asks but I don't know what to tell him "Will" he says as he turns to look at me "it's bad jay" I say honestly "look your gun shot was bad but look here you are living another day" I say. "She stayed in that waiting room the whole time, she never left. I even caught her crying and that's when I knew that I wasn't the only one going to lose anything" I say and he looks up at me sad. "I love her Will" he says and I smile "I know. Now let's get you finished and we can go wait with your team" I say as I start to finish stitching him up.

Jays POV
Me and Will both head out to see the team sitting in the waiting room, as I approach them Kim is the first to come up and hug me "so glad your okay" she says as I hug her back "thanks" I say back as we realise our hug. "You all good man?" Adam asks as he pulls me into a hug to "best I can for what I have seen" I sigh, "sorry bro" Kevin says as he hugs me as well.

After everyone sits down I see Voight nod his head as a signal for me to follow him. I slowly walk behind and follow him outside and over to a coffee cart "two coffees please" he asks as he pays the man and paces me a cup. "Thanks sarge" I say as we walk towards a bench. I talk a seat and he does as well and I just feel myself start to cry. "I'm sorry......I just-" "hey it's okay you don't need to explain" he says as he casually drinks his coffee and let's me break down. "I couldn't protect her. You partnered us up together and I was supposed to have her back, I promised you always" I say as I wipe my tears away "Jay you did have her back, you were there with her, you did everything you could so don't start blaming yourself" he says "but I just was sat there and had to watch him hurt her, I could of done something" I say annoyed. "Done what?" He asks as he looks at me "Son no one blames you, I don't, the team don't, Hailey sure as hell won't so why do it to yourself" he says as he places a hand on my shoulder.

"Sadly this stuff happens and I know that it shouldn't but Hailey was built for this. I mean you listen to her story and she is just outstanding, all of you guys are and that's why I chose you all. I love you all like my own and this hurts me but I have faith that you guys will survive it always." He says as he takes an other sip of coffee and I do the same.

1 hour later

We were all sitting in the waiting room together and I just keep looking at my watch to see how long it been but when I hear someone open the door I look up to see him there. "Connor?" I ask as we all stand up and step towards him. "Let me start of by saying she is out of surgery and is in a stable condition" he says and I hear Kim burst into tears behind me in relief "the blade didn't hit any major blood vessels and we repaired all of the damage and I am happy to say that she will make a full recovery" he smiles. "Ohh thank god" I say as I let out the breath that I have been holding for hours "thanks man" I say as I shake his hand "it's no problem" he says as he shakes everyone else's hands then leaves. "Ohh I'm gonna kill her" Kim laughs and we all do the same "see she's a survivor" Will laughs as he pulls me into a hug. "yeah she is" I say as everyone joins the hug.
