Chapter 35: The morning after

Jays POV
I open my eyes and I see that the sun is already rising, I look around and see everyone is still sound asleep. The fire was dead and the air was cool, I can hear the waves crashing on the surface as I lift my arm up and look at my watch, it was only 6:23am. I look to my side and I see Kim and Adam still sound asleep but Kevin's bed was empty, I knew he was either running or swimming somewhere considering he is quite a morning person.

The sun looked so beautiful as it's light colour reflect on the water, I knew that today would be a lovely day but right now the air was still cold. I could feel the coldness in the breeze as it passes over us making Hailey shiver. I cuddle her up to me to try and warm her up as feel her stir a bit, I rub her back as she drifts back of to sleep. After a while I feel myself grow tired again as I close my eyes and fall sound asleep again.

1 hour later

I was awoken again by hearing Kevin and Adam chatting with each other, I lift I've of my hands and rub my eyes. I open my eyes and look to me left and see Kim, Adam and Kevin all sitting together talking. "Morning" I hear Kevin chuckle as they all turn to look at me "morning" I groan back. I look down and I see Hailey still sound asleep on my chest but I knew I would have to wake her "Hailey, wake up babe" I whisper as I kiss her forehead "ughhhh" I hear her faintly moan and we all chuckle "morning beautiful" I laugh as she slowly lifts her head and looks at me with the cutest tired face ever. "Hi"she moans as she rubs her eyes "beautiful morning isn't it" she says as she looks around "yeah" we all say in agreement with her.

2 hours later

Hailey's POV
After we had all had breakfast we went back into the ocean but this time it was a lot cooler than yesterday. It was only me, Kim and Kevin that went in the other two were too cold to go in 'what baby's'. I got dressed and I brushed out my hair letting it air dry, I knew it would go all wavy but I didn't really care. I look around at the beautiful view and decided that I wanted to go for a walk up the mountain and enjoy today "hey guys how do you feel about going for a hike?" I ask as I turn to look at everyone else "ohh yeah definitely" Kim says "yeah sounds like fun" the boys all agree. It got really excited as I thought about it but it was suddenly stopped when I heard someone's phone buzz, I turn around to see Kevin pull him phone out and sigh.

"Hey guys I have a message form Sarge, 'hey guys sorry to cut your trip short but we have a case. Been a car bomb in the city and we have been giving the case. Head to the district now.'" Kevin says as he puts his phone down "well I guess we aren't gonna get that hike" I sigh as I walk over to them. "Right we have a case, let's get going" Adam says as we all start to pack up our things quickly. Checking we have taken everything with us we rush to the car and Adam drives us back home. I know today would get ruined somehow, 'it's just going to be an awful day isn't' I think to myself.

Jays POV
When we got home Adam dropped us off at our house first. We rushed in left the bags in the kitchen and went and got changed, grabbed all our gear then got into our car. We hurried back to the district and headed upstairs to see everyone just joining together with Voight. We take off our jackets then perch at the end of our desks as Voight start to talk to us all.
"Hey guys sorry to bring you in on a Sunday but we have been requested to take this" he says as he places a picture of have a blown up car on the board. "This happened at 6am this morning, no injuries no DOA's, but there was a device on there that proves this was not an accident which is why we have been given the case. Now the car was originally owned by Caroline Campbell but she died three years ago. We still are trying to find any footage of the car going through the traffic cams but so far no luck. CFD are still taking a look at the scene so Halstead Upton you go talk to them, the rest of you get looking at those cameras." He orders as me and Hailey grab our jackets and head down to the car.

We arrive at the scene and I see Chief Boden and Squad 3 looking over the car, we both walk over to the car, going under the tape I see Kelly turn around to look at us "hey Jay" he says as him and Boden both walk over to us. "Hey, we have been placed on this case and we were hoping that you guys might have found something to help us?" Hailey says as we look at them "what do you think Kelly?" I ask as I look over to him "this is professional work 100%, they did it where there are no cameras and no witnesses. But why? This place wouldn't cause destruction or hurt anyone, I mean I am thankful for that but I have a feeling that this was just a test run" he says honestly and chief nods as well "okay well thank you you guys, if you find out anymore or get anymore calls like this give us a call" Hailey says as i we turn around and back to our car "great, this was just the first" she says worriedly as we jump in the car and head back to the district.

Hailey's POV
Jay and I are walking out from the car park and are heading back over to the district, "we have no leads and we have no clue when or where they are gonna hit next" I sigh as he stops and turns around to face me "I know nobody has seen anything and we have no camer-"
