Chapter 23: News

Hailey's POV
We were all pacing the waiting room especially poor Adam who couldn't stand still for even a second but me on the other hand, my leg couldn't hold the wait of me, I need a seat. Dr Rhodes came over to tell us what happened "Kim Burgess GSW to the stomach. We removed the bullet in surgery and fixed most of the damage, she was very lucky and I am glad to say she will make a full recovery" he says with a smile. The sighs of relief and smiles in the unit was the best thing, I walk up and hug Conner "thank you so much" I whisper and he nods.

"Right I want to know who this bastard is" Voight says "We got footage back from the camera outside and we have ID on the prick" Kevin say "he is called Logan Harvey, 46 years old has been charged from murder and spent 5 years in prison, he has also been charge as a serial bomber" he says as we all look at his picture. "That's him" I say as I stare into his eyes. I can feel the shiver run down my spine as I look at him. "I am gonna kill him" Adam says pissed off "Adam I think it's best that you wait for Kim here and let us handle it" Voight says "no way Sarge! He shot her for no reason I want to get him!" He shouts "Adam please, she needs you hear with her okay" I beg to him. "I promise you that I will get him okay" I say and he nods. "Alright let's go" Voight orders as we all head back to the car.

2 hours later

We are still working on the case trying to find this guy, I can still feel a shake in my hands when I am trying to type but I know that I can react once I have fought this guy. We have all been following him all around the place but I still can not find him anywhere. Kevin and have already checked his house but her has cleared it all out but I know that he isn't finished with us at least not yet. I jump when I hear my phone ring and o quickly pull it out of my pocket to see Adam calling, "what happened! Is she okay?" I ask panicked "Hailey I'm fine" I hear Kim says quietly "ohhh thank god" I say as my eyes start to tear up. "Heard you saved me life, I own you a beer" she chuckles "ohh honey you own we the whole bar hahahah" I laugh back. "I am so glad that you are okay abs I promise I am gonna catch this guy" I say "I know you will but you guys be careful" she says back "we will, I love you but I gotta go" "I love you too" she says as I hang up and turn around to see Voight and Kevin walking up the stairs.

"Kim's all good" I smile as I shake my phone "that's great" they all say in relief "Sarge I have been scanning names all over for relatives for him, now I found that his great uncle used to own a warehouse in 1227 Langdon street. It hasn't been in use but it is still left in the family name and we have had people recognise Logan around the area" Jay says "okay I want some video footage from cameras abs see if he has visited in awhile" Voight says as he heads to his office and everyone jumps back to their computers.
