Chapter 9: Lucky

Wills POV
I hold the little girl tight in my arms as I run down the stairs as fast as I could. I managed to get all the way outside and even though I was out of breath I needed to find Jay. As I look around I finally see his unit all suiting up and loading there guns, "JAY!" I shout as I run over to them "ohh Will thank god" he says thankfully as they all walk towards me. "No Jay listen it's Hailey-" "what's wrong with Hailey?" He asks worried. "Listen I was told to get the girl out okay, the guy he came up the corridor and he um" I try to tell them but I can't breathe that well.

"Okay Burgess you stay with the girl" Voight says as Kim takes the little girl from my arms "woah wait is that 'Upton's vest'?" Kevin asks and I nod "she wouldn't eat me leave without putting it on in case he had a gun" I say and everyone nods "okay Will where are they?" Jay asks worried "second floor last corridor" I say as Jay pats me on the back and they all run in.

Jays POV
I was so worried about Hailey, I swear I loved her even more for saving my brother but at the same time I was annoyed that she took off her vest to face a murderer alone. I know this case was hitting her hard, I am worried that she is thinking that she is talking to her dad not Dermot.

Me, Adam, Kevin and Voight all ran through the hospital to the second floor and the closer we got to the last corridor I could hear Hailey and Dermot shouting. I was worried something was going wrong, Voight pulled us to the side of the wall just before we entered the corridor and gave us our orders. "Okay listen Hailey has no vest on ok so we don't shoot unless she is in the clear okay" he whispers and we all nod.

"she kept me away from Lilly all those years" I hear him shout "coz you were abusive, you took away the one thing that loved Lilly the most in the world. You killed her mother!" Hailey shouts back at him but I hear him laugh "your sick" she says in disgust "better watch your language blonde" he says in a smug tone but then I hear Hailey say "Woah you were seriously going to take a gun when you have your daughter with you" everyone raises there heads and I panic. She has no vest no cover and he had a gun. "it's increase one of you selfish sons of a bitch's try to stop me" he says "ohh so I am a son of a bitch because I am saving a little girl from someone like you who is unfit to be a parent" I hear her reply and I am just proud of her but still terrified, I clearly don't cover it well coz Voight noticed and said "she'll be okay it's Hailey".

After listening we all decided that we were going to slowly sneak up on him and be Hailey's back up if things were going south. The four of us slowly and quietly creep out and when I look up the corridor I see how far away we are from them but I still manage to see Hailey stood there with her hands held high. "How dare you! You don't know anything about me!" He shouts at her "I know more than you think" she says back "I know you are a drunk and beat your family to make you feel like a man, my dad did it to, and believe me it destroys a person" but when she said that I lowered my gun slightly and look over at her. I never knew the whole story about her and her dad, but I hear him laugh at her which pissed me right off.

"Just because you got a slap once does not mean you were abused" he says. "It wasn't slaps it was punches or belts or extension cords and ordainments" she says honestly. I seriously just wanted to go up and hug her, I never knew any of this, I can't believe she went through all that. "Well I am different I would never hit my baby" he says confidently "ohh yeah coz we are really gonna send her off with a murderer so you can what beat the hell out of her too? No chance in hell" she says all badass which was kind of turning me on, I love it when she is all fiery. "Watch me!" He shouts "Dermot you want to get to Lilly you have got to go through me and every Chicago police officer" she says.

The closer we get he seems to look more panicked and unsure about his decision. I was really hoping that Hailey could talk him down and we could all get out of here. "Dermot please for gods sake put the gun down" she asks calmly and he nearly does but just as he was about to he looks behind him and see us all. I knew this was really bad and I was scared that we would have to risk shooting him with Hailey behind him.
