Jays POV
Voight and I are driving together because he wouldn't let me drive alone. Probably knew I would speed off ahead and do something stupid. As he drives I take my safety of my gun and put my vest on. "Now Jay you stay on my hip alright. I'm calling the shots. You wait for my orders to do anything you hear me" he says seriously. I turn to look at him. "But Sarge-" "No. you listen you me. Everything I do in there will be to keep you alive. You can't save her if you die. I need your head on straight now, they are professional snipers and probably have lots of guns. You don't move anywhere until I tell you to" he says.

I knew he was right but I didn't want to hear it. I knew that in the moment all my mind would go to would be Hailey and I would do something stupid. But I can't help it. She's my world and I would do anything to have her back in my arms. I turn to look out the window and I try to calm my breathing. We sit in silence until I hear Adams voice through our radios.

"Hey sarge I'm just reading into this guys record. He's had multiple priors of drug possession, kidnapping, accomplice to murder. He's been in and out of jail since he was 14. He's had a psych evaluation and he's basically crazy. He's marked as danger when off his meds" Adam voice says through the radio. I close my eyes. "Alright copy that Ruzek" Voight replies. I look over to him. "Your definitely staying by my side" he says. "Sarge I really don't need babysat. This is Hailey" I say as I look over to him and he nods.

"Exactly. It's Hailey, it's your partner, your fiancé and you shouldn't even be here but you need to do this by the book" he says. "I always do Sarge. I wouldn't kill someone for no reason" I say surprised that he thinks I would kill someone out of no where. "I know that. But these situations are different. When it's someone you love in danger and you see the person that has caused it your mind changes. Your heart starts to race and you don't know what is the right thing to do. Rage clouds over you and that's when mistakes happen" he says honestly.

We have pull up outside and I jump out of the truck, gun in my hand ready. I put my com in my ear as we all rush over to the building. We all take our positions around the door. "Ready, let's go" Voight orders as we both kick the door open. "CHICAGO PD!" We yell as we all rush in clearing the building. As soon as we all were inside we hear gunshots. We all take cover behind these huge containers. A shoot out starts between us and these four other guys. I take my chance and I look up from the container and shoot, my aim perfect as I catch one of the offenders. I duck back down as more fire comes over us.

I was worried because we are giving them a chance to hurt Hailey. Our cover is blown and they know we are here for her. As more shots are fired the conversation with Jonny popped into my mind. "Sarge" I say as I turn to him. "She isn't in here. Jonny said he took her to the shed across from here" I say as I look at him. He looks down at the ground as if I'm battle with himself. "Sarge I have to do this" I say. "Right okay we've got this. You be careful and think what you do before you do it. If she's not near him then she's safe okay. Don't you dare take your eyes of him for a second until he's dead or in cuffs. Get him before you go to her. I know it's hard but you have to" Voight says and I nod

I go to get up but he grabs my arm. "Be careful son and make sure she's okay" he says. "I will Sarge" I say as I crawl from my cover. I shoot up at the guys as I run back out of the door and outside. I felt guilty leaving my team under heavy fire but Hailey was important to me. I need to save her. I hold my gun close to my chest as I sprint as fast as I could towards the shed. I get to the door and slowly open it. I walk in and realise the it look just like a normal shed until I see the stairs. I slowly start to walk down them, trying to keep the element of surprise.

I'm half way down the stairs when suddenly I hear it. I hear a scream, her desperate call for help, her shrill scream of pain. It's her. Her voice unmistakably recognisable. With my finger on the trigger ready i walk closer to where her scream came from. Ready to do what was necessary. Ready to protect my girl. I walk as quickly and quietly as I can. I get to the bottom and as I walk further in I see to my left that there is a big cell and when I look forwards I see him pining Hailey up against the wall. She looks tired, broken and battered. She is crying out and telling him no but he continues to force himself on top of her.
