MELANIE RICHARDS
By the time hits 7.30, Niall drives me the way to fraternity house. It’s a lot challenging, ofcourse. To actually get the chance to be there. In a bad way, obviously. It’s nearly nerveracking to see Miles there. Not in a positive way, though. He almost got me to get laid. Now, he will probably going to get pissed even more to see me with Niall. I don’t want to cause any scene. Really, I don’t. I just want to make him see that I’m capable of dating someone way much better than him. With Niall, which is lots better than him.
Only if it’s not pretending. I wish I could take away the past and move on. I’ve moved on, though. I’ve been with myself, until now. It’s prefectly fine and okay. Even though—sometimes, being alone isn’t practically right for me.
Even if I still can resist Niall, I couldn’t. He has these sparks on him that make me alive. I haven’t had those feelings back when I was with Nathan. Only, it’s way different than when I was with Nathan. The feeling I had with Niall is beyond my expectation. I never really liked anyone in such a brief moment since the day we met.
I love being with him, as long as I still can hold myself from loving him.
“Hey, you’re okay with this right?” I ask him, reassure him.
“As long as you’re okay with it, I’m all good.” He shrugs, looking over to me then back to the road. He looks just as charming as the Smiths song. Maybe even more charming.
When we finally arrive, I feel the heartbeat keeps on knocking me out. Niall parks the car on the pavement then he leads me to the front door, by holding my hand. Intertwining our fingers together. It fits perfectly.
The shock thing is, I don't sweat my palms.
What a shame, it is only a pretend. I remind myself.
As I walk in, the light is pretty dim and it’s foggy from the smoke. A couple of guys and girls are hanging around and gagging around. The scent of smoke fills the entire room, the scent is incredibly strong that I almost have my shirt up to cover my nose. But I wouldn’t do that, that would be a retarded move to be seen.
“Melanie!!” A familiar girly voice calls me out. Jane. I turn my head everywhere to scan her. Then she finally walks up to me and pats my shoulder. I let go of Niall’s hand then clasp my arm around his arm. Lock it altogether.
“Jane,” I smile, awkwardly.
“Hey, what are you doing here?” She asks as she holds my shoulder. “Oh, is this your guy?” She asks in a very low tune.
“Yeah, this is Niall. Niall this is Jane.” I introduce him to her. She smiles as Niall makes out a fake smile. I nudge him a little, but it’s kind of useless.
“Yo Niall!” A black haired guy calls Niall. I point my head to gesture Niall to go.
“Go with Jane, I’ll be right back in a few minutes, ‘kay?” He assures me with his warm smile.
I nod and Jane leads me to the nearest couch where she sat earlier. The guys that sit in front of the couches, which on the floor, are playing cards and drinking and smoking weed and all. The scent is powerful that I really need some air. Real air.
“Just sit here with me.” She gestures me to sit next to her. “Where have you been? I miss you so much.” Jane says as she picks up a vodka bottle in front of her then takes a gulp. I look around the room to see Warren is making out with. . . Miles.
NIALL HORAN
I head to the back of the room where Tyler called me out. I talk with the guys and crack up jokes as I always do.
I look over to Melanie who is still smiling warmly to the girls, I smile at myself. I feel the need to be close with her, I don't know if it's only a feeling of me being slightly protective or just I want to be close with her.
I stand on my foot then walk over to the main room, to see Melanie around girls and guys that sit on the floor. I suddenly thought about Melanie being used with those kinds of guys. I won’t let anybody hurt her.
“Whoa, Niall.” Miles pats my back behind me. I knew it was Miles before I even look at him.
“Hey, Miles.” I pat his shoulder.
“So, you’re here with Melanie? How is she?” He smirks.
“Well, we're dating, but I need process.” I bite my bottom lip.
“Okay, don’t put me down dude. Come on.” He points to the main room. Jay and the guys are already there. They put on a form of round. Then I see Melanie on the couch. Smiling at the jokes people are making. I head to Melanie then sit next to her, playing spin the bottle.
“You survived.” I tease her.
“I changed my mind, let's get out of here.” She looks over to me then pouts.
“We just got here. We don’t want to be cocky, so, stay for a little while then we’re out, okay?” I convince her.
She nods.
“Hey, new couple, what are you guys doing there? Come the fuck down and play.” Miles invites us to play. I look at Melanie, her face is all pale. She fake smiles then sits down on the floor next to Jane.
