I wake up on the couch and the familiar room hits my memory back. It's Melanie's living room. I sit up to see an arm wraps around my chest as I see Melanie, beautiful and breathtaking as always, holding me while she's watching This is 40. I find myself recover as I snuggle up into her arms. She looks at me and smiles. "I love you, Thomas." She says as she leans in to kiss my cheek. Thomas?! I'm not Thomas!
"No." I whisper, sternly. "No, no, no!" I shout at her.
"Thomas, are you okay? Hey, look at me. I love you." She smiles with a pity look on her eyes.
"I'm not Thomas, I'm Niall!" I groan at her. She looks worried but also beautiful.
"Niall? Niall. . ." She lets a tear fall down her cheeks. I nod and let myself cry into her as I hold her tight.
"Niall? Hey. . ." A different voice coos in my ear as I quickly sit up and get off of her grasp. It's just Alice. "Niall, you okay?" She asks me with a concern look in her face.
"What's wrong?" I pant.
"I don't know, you hugged me but then your face looked hard and you started you shout your own name then you whispered this girl, Melanie?"
"Sorry." I run my fingers through my hair. She just nods and looks away. "What time is it?"
"1:40." She stands up.
"Where are you going?" I lay my body back to my bed.
"See your moms been up to." She says as she exits the room. What's with her? I roll my body over and try to sleep again, wishing to see her face once again in my dream.
MELANIE RICHARDS
I cry my heart out to see Thomas is going to leave today. I get myself ready and put on my casual outfit. I drive my car to Thomas's as I tighten my grip on the wheel. I try my best to not to cry. I get out of my car and run through the falling snow to Thomas's house. The door is open and his grandpa is sitting on his sofa, scratching his eyes out of the tears that are flowing. He stands up and quickly hug my body as I cry on his shoulder.
"You should see Thomas up stairs." He smiles, heading back to his couch. I nod and head upstairs. Thomas is all dress up and he looks paler than ever. His circle stains are already covering his neck as I run to him and hug his weak body. I cry on his chest and he's really warm and his body is so hot that I can snuggle into him from the cold breeze air.
Louis smiles at me and nods. I let go of Thomas and his eyes are all red and his body is too weak to bear my body. I lead him downstairs and leave him with his grandpa alone. When Thomas leaves the room with his grandpa, he leads me outside and he suddenly shivers and blinks his eyes rapidly. I wrap my arms around his body as I slowly walk him to my car.
The rest of the drive is quiet. Louis doesn't even bother to talk to me. He carries all the medications Thomas has and he doesn't let Thomas carries his own stuffs so I decide to carry them.
"So, have you got in touch with Niall?" Thomas asks as we sit on the tray, waiting for Louis takes care of the seat tickets and the luggage.
"No, Thomas." I shake my head, looking directly at his pale face and his red eyes.
"He loves you, Melanie and so do you." Thomas says, holding my hand.
"I know, but—"
"I know you just feel pity for me. I didn't need it, Lenny. For fuck sake." He looks away and shuts his eyes.
"Thomas, listen to me! I spent one fucking moth with you because I know that you're a great guy. I have never met someone like you in my whole life and all I wanted to do is to make our valuable time worth to spend. I probably will never meet someone like you anymore and trust me, I don't feel pity for you at all—"
"Then if I'm a great guy, why would God do this to me?! If he's kind and fair then why it has to be me?" He starts to cry.
"Because, Thomas. . ." My heart aches and I feel want to break down into crying my heart out. "Because God knows you're not worth to live in this world. Consider it more like, if you went to a park full of flowers, which one you would pick up first? The best of them all." I feel my eyes start to gloss.
"No, if you found the best of them all then you water it, Lenny!" Thomas groans, catching people's attention.
"I'm sorry." I sob and bury myself into my palms.
"Or. . ." He sighs. "Maybe it's you that God sees. You are the best one and, I'm the water that supposed to make you a better person." He sobs.
"Then who is going to water me if you're gone." I cry.
"Niall." He wraps his arm around me and kisses my cheek. I hug him and gives him a kiss on his cheek. "Niall, Melanie." He hugs me tightly as Louis cues us to go.
"Thomas, I love you." I cry on his shoulder as he strokes my back.
He doesn't reply and he never has and probably never will because that is the last time I ever talked to Thomas. I feel lonely and disappointed. I didn't come to his funeral or be able to say goodbye. The last time I talk to Thomas was 'Thomas, I love you.'
