NIALL HORAN
I stutter, not knowing what to say. I walk to her way and sit on the chair. “I’m sorry, so sorry.” I collapse my hands together.
“It’s okay.” She chuckles. “It’s just, I tried to study up there but I couldn’t,” She sighs and sits next to me. “How are you?” She takes a sip and locks her eyes with mine. Her dark brown eyes shows a bit red in the inner and the outer corner. Her eyelids seem to be a bit swollen. Her nose is red and I can’t stop resisting myself from the thought of her crying. Was she?
“I’m great.” I nod.
She gives me a weird look as she looks away. “So, you came here by yourself?” She licks her lips and it becomes slightly red. Her lips are full—and also, fully tempting and I can imagine my lips dancing against her full redden plump lips. I have a damn feeling towards her. I can’t put the feeling on edge.
It takes a moment for me to recall what she had said. What did she say earlier? “No, yes.” I answer randomly then shift my eyes to the glass she holds.
She looks at me by arching her brows and squinting her dark brown eyes. “You came here with your dad then?”
“No.” I nervously chuckle.
“Okay. . .” She shakes her head, rolling her eyes. Her redden lips and her swollen eye lids are catching my attention. She was definitely crying. Should I ask her?
No.
“You look like you were crying,” I inform. "Did you?" Fucking white wine.
Is it the white wine? Or just me being an idiot? I become really nervous around her. She’s unpredictable, I can’t communicate easily around her. I basically just have to say my lucky charm remarks. But I can’t seem to spit them out. It’s not going to work on her. She probably snaps me off or even kicks me out.
“No.” She presses her tone. “Why does it matter to you if I did?” She glares.
“Wh—what? I’m sorry,” I stutter, again. “I’m, uh—“
MELANIE RICHARDS
I keep on glaring at him until in sudden, I almost pop my heart out. In the back of Niall’s head, through the window, I see someone that I used to know. Someone that was once the best thing I’ve ever had. He’s walking towards the back door. Heading to the room I’m currently staying. I can’t think straight. Memories attack me in the back of my head. Why is he here? He’s in Boston for good. I’m shaking but I can’t even move my legs.
“Melanie? What are you staring at?” Niall ruins my thought as he looks back behind him. His face is full of awareness. He seems so nervous. But it doesn’t matter for now. Nathan is here and I can't do nothing but to run into his arms. He’s a little more closer to open the door.
“Nothing,” I give him an awkward staring. “I cried because I watched—Friends, up there.” I crooked grin wishing he doesn't know that popular show.
“Friends? Why did you cry over Friends? And you said you were studying?” He arches his brows.
“I, uhm,” I search for the words but my brain won’t let me. As the door opens, my eyes dart to the door. Nathan. He’s wearing button up white shirt and black jeans. His brunette hair and his eyes are just the highlight of his appearances. His lips pull up to both sides and reveals a huge grin. I can’t move my body but to stand on my feet and he walks over to me and pulls me into a big hug.
“Nate, what—what are you doing here?” I let go of his grip. I can’t give him anymore chances. I won’t make myself more open to him anymore.
“Visiting you, I really miss you.” He pulls me into another hug. He misses me? Where have you been for these past one and a half years? He’s tall enough to make my head ends up to rest in his shoulder.
“How’s Kelis going?” I pull myself back, again. Kelis, who doesn’t amaze her? Especially Nathan. He was obsessed with her. That he forgot that for a long period of time, I was always there for him.
“We broke up. Just a several weeks ago.” He pouts but still locks eyes with me. Those big hazel eyes. “I miss you.” No. I’m not going to end up with him. “Who’s this?” He points out to Niall that I left out. He’s holding a glass of water I drank earlier. He seems to finish it.
“Niall, he’s, uhm,” If I’m really going to make a distance between me and Nathan, I have to make something up. “My boyfriend.”
Niall chokes as he spits the water out of his mouth and gulp it right back. I glare at him and shut my eyes at his idiot reaction then face Nathan, the guy I fell in love with.
