MELANIE RICHARDS

Goodmorning, class.” Mrs. Parker interrupts our conversation as she walks in. “So did you guys do the assignments I gave you last week?” She puts her stuffs on her desk. As always, her brows are too black to function. “Oh, and not to mention, we have an exchange student that will be staying here for the whole 2 months. There he is. Thomas Brodie? I suppose?” She asks and her eyes shifts behind me, to Thomas.

“Thomas-Brodie Sangster, Mrs. Parker.” He lifts his hand and sit up.

“Great, well, if you need anything, just ask me for a tour in this school. Or, if you made some friends, just ask them for a tour.” She says as she turns around to grab her book. “Collect your homework here, and I don’t want to see any of you that didn’t do your homework!” She taps the empty space on her desk.

“Good, I made one friend and I only count on you to do a tour for me during the break.” Thomas says to me as I grab the paper I slipped from my binder a couple days ago.

“Don’t you want to have a little tour with that over thicked brow lady over there?” I point to Mrs. Parker.

“Right, no thank you.” He chuckles still follows by his thick british accent.

As the bell rings, the other kids walk their way to the door and so do I. I lead Thomas to his locker which is not that far from mine then I give him a little tour from classes to classes. Most of is classes are mine too. He’s an exchange student. He must be smart enough. I’m not that good with grades, but I have to keep my grades stabil.

As the classes end, Thomas keep on stalking me and not that I don’t like it. He’s new and he’s a good company too. I used to walk and hang around by myself if Jamie wasn’t around. On Mondays, I only meet Jamie for the break and when the school’s over. But for now, while Niall decided to pick me up, I tell Jamie to pass.

“So, where are you going after school?” I ask Thomas as we sit on the bench to wait for someone to pick us up.

“I don’t know. The school bus is going to take me home.” He says as he squints his eyes to avoid the bright clouds. It’s nice to be out on a weather like this, here, in Ohio. The flares strikes his face, appealing his light ginger hair and his bright brown eyes. His freckles are covering his full face. But he’s really cute.

“You took the bus to get here?” I ask. “The bus is full of irritating people, really.” I assure him. “Where’s your house?” I ask as I lay back to the bench.

“Payne Ct.” He says licking her lips.

“That’s near to my house. Just go around the block then my house is right on the left side.” I make hand gestures to show the way. “You live there alone?”

“I live there with my grandpa.” He remarks.

“Do you want me to drive you home? It’s only one block away from mine.” I smile.

“Well, if it’s okay?” He says with a grin in his face.

“Totally okay, I’m going to Taco Bell to grab some meal with my—“ Boyfriend? Friend? “Friend.” I chuckle.

“Uh, if it’s okay to your friend, then, it’s fine.” He shrugs.

“It’s totally fine. He’s Irish.” I grin, feeling like an idiot.

“Does it matter?” He giggles.

“No,” I shake my head looking at the ground. “So sorry. It was just because you guys twodon't have the same accent as Americans. So, yeah.” I laugh.

“You are the only racist person I’ve met since I got here.” He shakes his head then looks away to the driveway. “Is that him?” He asks as an SUV parked right in front of us.

“Yeah.” I nod, I timidly smile at the thought of spending another time with Niall.

“Hey!” Niall calls me out from inside of the car. I stand up and walk towards the car, holding my idiot smile.

“Hey, this is Thomas, Thomas this is Niall.” I point to Thomas then to Niall.

“Hey.” Thomas smiles at Niall.

“He’s my new friend and his house isn’t that far from mine so, I figured that we could take him home.” I point to Thomas, avoiding Niall's blue eyes.

“Yeah. Come on, get in!” Niall shouts from his car.

As Niall drives us to Taco Bell, the traffic doesn’t seem to bother us.

“So, you’re an exchange student I suppose?” Niall asks Thomas.

“Yep, from London.” He nods.

“And you’re already hitting on my girlfriend, right here?” Niall laughs.

I pop my eyes out and nudge Niall’s head by my hand. “I told him you’re my friend.” I roll my eyes at him.

“Err. So you guys are dating or not?” Thomas giggles.

“Noo.”

“Naah.” Niall says at the exact time I say it.  “Here we are!” He turns his wheel to the right.

“Yas!” I say as I reach for my wallet inside my bag.
