MELANIE RICHARDS

“Uhm, can you take me back home?” I ask Niall.

“What’s wrong?” He asks.

“Well, obviously, I had to be home for tomorrow. School.” I lie and roll my eyes at the idea of school.

“Okay, let’s go.” He stands up and leads me out.

Niall drives me down to my house and when we get there, I see no other cars from the workers, other than Jamie’s sedan car.

“Okay, do you want me to come in?” Niall asks as he stops the car right infront of my house.

“No—no. Thankyou for the pretending scene and for the KFC. I owe you Taco Bell for tomorrow.” I chuckle as soon as I get out of his car.

“No need, I love paying for foods.” He shouts from his car.

“Okay, don’t let me being stood up again.” I close the door then walk to my house. Niall drives the car onto the driveway then honks the car before pulling the window out. I smile at the thought that I could get to know him more than I expected.

“Tomorrow after school!” He shouts as he waves his hand out.

“Drive safe!” I wave back and turn my heels to open the door, but Jamie seems to open it for me.

“There you are.” Jamie gestures me to come in.

“Where’s my mom?” I ask him.

“Cleaning stuffs with the buffet waitress.” He sits down at the living room couch. “You don’t want to ask where Nathan is?”

“Don’t bother. I hope he fell asleep.” I roll my eyes and sit next to Jamie on the couch.

“You really are a bitchy person.” He shakes his head. “He’s helping your mom back there.” He tilts his head back. “I heard him talking to some guy on the phone. I was in the counter and I didn’t hear the rest.” He shrugs.

“What—what did he say?”

“He said that he was just asking for yourr sorry by visiting you here and making it all up for you. He broke up with Kelis because Kelis cheated on him. And he remembered that you were there for him and blahblah and then he said that for all these years, the one that’d actually been there for him was you.”

“Yay. He finally realized. But it’s over, I can’t deal with him anymore.” I sit up.

“Well, it’s up to you.” He exhales. “By the way, I got to go. It’s nearly midnight I have to get ready for tomorrow.” He stands on his feet.

“I’m going to lay in here for a while.” I shut my eyes as I lay my head back to the couch.

“You owe me a story of what happened with Niall. Bye.” He leaves me and gets out of the door.

I exhale and groan at the same time.

“Hey.” A voice comes from behind me, making me jump. It must be Nathan.

“You scared the shit out of me.” I chuckle as I open my eyes. Nathan sits next to me where Jamie sat.

“Sorry.”

“For what? You scared the shit out of me or the part where you really need to be sorry for?” I ask him, follows by my giggle. “I’m kidding. I was joking, really.” I chuckle out loud.

“It’s okay. Sorry because I scared you.” He assures me.

“Forget it, I was shitting.” I shake my head as I shift my eyes to the wall.

“You swear when you’re mad. I get it.” He nods and he bends down to gather his hands together.

“You think I’m mad over this?” I shake my head. “Oh, God.”

“Yeah. The whole thing, I get it that you pissed off of me. I get it. I was just trying to make things right, Melanie.” He looks at me in the eyes.

“Nothing’s right since you came here, Nate.” I stand on my feet and cup my waist with my palm. “I forgive you, okay? But it’s not going to change things. Let’s get over it and—and move on.” I smile and nod. “Now, I have to arrange things for school homeworks tomorrow.” I leave him and run up the stairs and up to my room. I shut the door behind me loudly.
