I took a walk today
In middle of afternoon
A time I rarely walk
My routine steps out of tune
Notice sidewalk sparkled
As I slowly plod along
Never seen that before
These sparkles do not belong
Started looking closer
Tossed ice salt might wink and glint
But no, that's not the case
I frown as my eyelids squint
Tiny rocks in sidewalk
Reflecting winter sunrays
Beams at perfect angle
Sparkles rise to meet my gaze
When I change direction
Sidewalk sparkles disappear
But when I turn around
Sidewalk sparkles reappear
Shake my head in wonder
Never know what I might see
A walk around my block
Offered me a spec of glee
