Evening Mend

45 17 22

There's something in green waves of leaves

That soothes my troubled soul

As daylight starts to fade away

Inner tensions unroll

Strands of brown hair dance with the wind

Tickles that tease my face

Notes from a neighbor's stereo

Slow down my inner pace

A golden glow peeks through dark trees

And warms a tired soul

Rain sweetened air bathes my cool skin

As night begins patrol

Endless sky is nature's canvas

Wind is nature's paintbrush

Long streaks of gold and blue appear

Then pink to end day' blush

Quite soon I'll need to go inside

When eyes no longer see

The dark blue scribbles of my pen

On a white paper sea

Listen to the chorus of tweets

From throats of feathered friends

As night creeps through our strip of woods

Sharp chirps and songs suspend

Old bunny lopes across backyard

Starting his evening stroll

It's time for me to go inside

With peace that mends my soul
