Spring Burn

Thunderstorms overnight

Cooling winds chill damp air

Gardens are squishy wet

Weeding? Muddy nightmare!

Instead, I take a walk

Around my neighborhood

Early morning quiet

And nature's sounds feel good

In trees tipped red and green

Woodpecker drums a beat

Chorus of tweets and trills

Warm me from ears to feet

One tree is blooming white

Nearby, one hints of pink

Red buds are leaking green

Small bush spills yellow ink

Walk around rain puddles

My world is turning green

Eager to get back home

And capture all I've seen

Daffodils nod hello

Stir hope of blooms to come

Pick up paper and pen

Burn to end someone's glum
