Lived Long Enough

13 5 7

Wind whips around and through my coat

I speed up steps and make a note

A coat of wool is not enough

Need layers with a bit more fluff

And some mittens to warm my hands

A warmer hat, sure would be grand

Pull wool hood tight against my face

Huff and puff to a faster pace

Tomorrow I will not hurry

Check outside before I scurry

If windsock flows upon its side

Add layers to protect my hide

Add warm gloves for my fingertips

And put slick balm upon my lips

A knit cap that layers over ears

Will make my walk less severe

Lived long enough to know better

Sideways windsock means more sweaters!
