Seek Calm

Sunday morning, slip outside

Neighbors still are tucked inside

Line up peanuts on deck rail

Cardinals first to see unveil

So excited, they can't wait

Straight towards me with hopping gait

Beside rail I watch them come

Frozen 'til they grab nut crumbs

Next, I sit down in web chair

Feathered singing fills cool air

Tires hum on distant roads

Tug boat's horn reach small abode

Train whistles near river's flow

Rides cool wind to join dawn's glow

Listen... I can hear wheels chug

Boxcars pulled in engine's tug

Warbles of a tiny wren

Trilled outside his twiggy den

Startles me; his song is loud

Sings toward sky; he looks so proud

Honeysuckle full of blooms

Sweetens air with light perfume

Flowers float in morning's breeze

Rolling across bush top seas

Soak up nature while I can

Filled with peace to share with clan

Sunday morning's dawn delight

Starts my day with calm insight
