Jolt of Joy

Face caressed by warm day's breeze

Invite friends to seed nut tea

Critters swoop with feathered wing

Bunnies race through bushy sea

Squirrels squabble over a nut

Nips and leaps from rowdy bunch

As they bicker blue jay swoops

Grabs abandoned nut for lunch

Squirrels rush off into tall trees

Neighbor's cat has made them flee

Cat patrols my garden beds

Curbing rodent nibbling spree

Short night makes my eyelids droop

Then I spy a speckled swoop

Hear soft thump of big bird feet

Redhead's visit is a treat

Large woodpecker checks me out

Grabs a nut; flies with bird shout

Shy bird's visit sparks my heart

Jolt of joy to day's depart
