*death :)*

I knew that I was going to die when the sky turned orange.

It was strange- the feeling of impending death, that is- because there was nothing I could do about it. We were stranded in the middle of space on a rock with a beautiful sunset.

Somehow it was peaceful.

My knees were pulled to my chest and my chin rested on my crossed arms as I watched the sky. He sat beside me.

"It's beautiful," I spoke quietly, as if my voice could somehow slow the clock. He nodded.

"We're going to be okay," he tried to reassure me. I shook my head.

"You don't have to lie to me," I finally took my eyes off the sky and looked to his face. The new view brought me the same amount of joy, "I know you can feel it too."

He let out a quiet breath and bit his cheek, looking back at the sky. We remained in silence, his hand in mine.

I wish the story had ended there.

But the pages continued and voices grew panicked.

Our hands separated as we turned towards the adults. Bodies withered away rapidly. My chest constricted as I met Tony's eyes.

"What's happening?" I spoke louder- the clock had stopped ticking, no point in slowing the inevitable.

"You alright, kid?" Tony had the same fear in his eyes. I looked to Peter, who looked at me with wide eyes.

"No-" he barely managed. I looked at my hand- it faded and the ashes were picked up by the wind. I watched it continue to my wrist. It was painless.

If this was death, I welcomed it.

"I'm sorry," I looked at the two in front of me. The boy stumbled to me pulled me into a hug. His tears hit the ground where I had been.

Within a moment, I was gone.
